Ei guys, tanong ko lang if there's any possible way I can get a Taylor acoustic here in the Philippines. I've heard some great things about them and I seem to remember some guy in Perfect Pitch Megamall (some dreadlocked dude) saying that I could order through them.
I'm considering getting a Taylor mainly because of the fast, electric-like neck. I might get the Bigbaby Dreadnought if possible :-D

Got that right :roll: I am really enjoying my current guitar (EW20 Ibanez) but I'm kinda miffed about the action on the higher frets. I remember the AW40 having a nice low action even up to the 14th fret while the EW's already kind tricky to solo on in the same area. Pero sabi ng marami, it's just me being nitpicky. The neck's slim and fast as hell anyway so it's still a joy to play and ang GANDA ng tunog :-o , incredibly well defined and clear.
Yung Taylor, if the Lord wills for me to finish Nursing and pass the boards, I just might ask for it as a graduation present instead of an electric 8-) So, is there anyway I can get a Taylor guitar here?

Sir, your store is SWEET. When I went there a few weeks ago I was mesmerized but I couldn't stop thinking "Where are the acoustic guitars?". Galing sir. Kasabay po ba ng shipment na yan yung mga Ernieball at bagong ESP?

axuly hindi oa nmin pinapaship yung mga taylor guitars and martin coz we are still sorting out kung magsusuit sa market ntn. but as of now pwedeng order nlng muna cguro paisa isa

crystal audio. look for kevin 09282373323. i just placed an order for my band's guitar player, ardie de guzman. it's arriving last week of may. i think they only accept on a per order basis, so if you wanna try out the guitar first, well, you're out of luck. my advice is, to look for somebody who has one, try it out, then order through crystal audio when you're sure. i think you just have to make a 50% downpayment. their prices are pretty competitive.

Ibanez Artwood AW40 model. They both have bitchin' inlays though :-o
What makes you prefer Martins? I've never actually even seen a Martin up close but I have heard that they are the gold standard for acoustic guitars.

may mga mura rin na taylor... they now have the big baby and 1 series w/c use laminates... 9 series kasi yun guitar ko thats why its pricey...
Martins sound more woody... mas may ooomph, but a similar model would cost more... mas mahal pa kesa taylor... eto yun d41 ko

Ive tried loads of acoustics... from low end japanese models from yamaha/morris/tokai to hi end models from lowden/gibson/morgan etc.... malayo talaga ang sound quality nun mga all solid guitars, lalo na kung medyo light ang bracing... woodier, deeper, more complex tone... atleast pag unplugged...

Sir, all I can say a those prices, is "No f*****g way, for now at least". Pero tanong ko na rin, how thick is the neck of a Martin and does it affect playability?

for the record, isa lang ang taylor ko :-D... marami ng nakataylor (aiza, barbi, paolo s, mga sessionista) pag ako nag demo baka wala ng bumili ng taylor :-D :-D :-D

Dude, I don't think he was implying in any shape or form that he had all of those Taylor models. The last sentence of the post says it all.

farseer - i recently tried a 1965 Martin dread and a newish Taylor w/ cutaway (jumbo shaped but smaller?).... niiiiiice!

Sir, saang store niyo po nasubukan yung Taylor at Martin? As much as possible kasi, subukan ko muna. Para mabawas-bawasan yung GAS :-D

ang magandang taylor para sa tenga ko yung 300 series the rest of the taylors are just eye candy. btw not necessarily na mataas ang model e maganda ang sound. anyways bright para sakin ang taylor not my taste. i would prefer a martin over taylor anytime pero take note na me mga martin din na hindi maganda lalo na yung mga low end models nila. i use a martin d35. the best martin na nadinig ko e yung Johnny Cash signature D35. yung sound nangagaling sa buong body hindi lang s sound hole pero ang presyo naman is around 200K pesotas.
Ang nakatalo lang na sound ng Martin ay yun Santa Cruz na vintage.
Kung nasa band setting ka.. go for a Taylor kasi nagcucut dahil s midrangy tone nya.
Kung soloist ka.. better ko for a Martin particularly the OM or D models.
If you want a Taylor you might need to search somewhere else.. your best bet is the HK favorite or dito sa Singapore. http://www.sinamex.com/

not at a store. sa friend ko na expat yun. he's had the 1965 Martin for more than 20 years daw.
he bought the Taylor from Musician's Friend.

Hmmmm.... ive tried all sorts of taylor, in my observation, hindi ko nagustuhan ang 300 series... unless ltd edition wherein they used koa.... comparing it w/ a similar upscale model like a 5 series (mahogany body) side by side malayo ang tone quality :-)
yun 7, 8 and 9 series: sila ang pareparehas ang tone more or less... cept that they use englemann intead of sitka sa mas mahal na modelo :-)
martins and taylor will cut through the mix similarly, basta nandun yun mids... youll appreciate this w/ 000 or om on martins or the 12 (grand concert) and 14 (Grand auditorium) body style of taylor guitars :-)
lastly on the santacruz.... scgc are great guitars... lightly braced, well balanced as opposed to the bottom heavy martin dred.... but they are different, so preference yan nun listener/player kung ano mas maganda... if you want a boomy guitar go for a martin dred, pag balance naman scgc...

Taylors are mass produced, unless you find late 80s guitars that bob taylor himself made. But that said, although Taylor guitars are not really that high-end (to me they're low high-end, if that makes sense) they do sound good, at least the mid models. the high models to me are not that different to the mid ones, at least from the ones i have tried. iba lang ang species ng back and sides at yung grade ng top, and also yung inlay. To me they sound more "tinny" than like say Martin guitars, which is fine by me because I use mine to cut through a lot of noise, esp when playing with a group of children.
But I am sure it will be a step up from what you currently have. :)
I like mine, a 415ce that I got years ago. If I would replace it I'll get a Lowden.

ooohhh! thanks for the input man! yeah usually, for acoustics..that first strum is critical..Ill try to schedule a testing date..wish me luck..hopefully I could still negotiate a bit more which is the most important consideration..hahaha
