parang masaya kasi alam mong may makaka-gets sa gagawin mo. at the same time alam mo rin na pag sumabit ka kahit maliit lang, mapapansin kaagad.

i feel a little under the microscope coz of the drummers around you who are in-the-know and at the same time excited and constructive coz by by keeping an open-mind to criticisms/comments/suggestions I am able to suck it all up and improve, kumbaga free lessons and feedback which is really what anyone should expect when trying to develope his craft.
I would feel intimidated and agitated at the same time if it wasn't for the inherent cammaraderie among drummers. I duno if you noticed this ha, but drummers really have this 'community' or 'help each other' thing going...parang: "hey man cool chops you did back there, can you teach me that part when you did so and so" and shempre a drummers answer would 'usually' be: "thanks dude, but not really, see it goes something like this..." whereas in 'some' other hobbies of mine, medyo defensive and antagonistic or at least reserved, something like: "nah man, you're doing it wrong, i'm still not showin you my stuff" or "first is you gotta have a "2007 brand series x1.2 collector's edition" (gadget boast) attached to a "brand x generation 18" to be able to pull that off."
i guess if you'd even take a look at this lovely drummers forum of ours, everyone is calm and collected and the spirit of cammaraderie is always there. walang aggressive, well except for a select and random few i guess, they add colour and excitement anyway.
hahaha im not generalising, its only based on my observation (which is subjective). tama na drama, walang magawa dito sa office eh.

ikaw pa! ang salesman ng mga salesman! yang PR mo kakaiba! daig mo pa mga talkshow hosts! :-D
tama ka, may cammaraderie nga sa mga drummers, pansin ko rin yun kasi sa mga guitar forum na pinupuntahan ko medyo nag-aaway at nagyayabangan. hindi lahat pero palagay ko mas madami sa ibang larangan. :-)

as much as possible i keep playing just the way i play whether there's another
drummer or not. well most of the time there are drummers breading down my neck
so i'm kinda used to it. i'm a not totally confident drummer but
i just wanna have fun playing drums i don't need to try impress the other
drummer, been there done that already nowadays i just wanna play with my band
and have fun.

Ahahah.. Kasi sa ganitong oras lang ako nakakapag online. Walang pera pambili ng dial-up card kaya sa offpeak hours na lang lagi naka online. :-D

share ko lang... last friday... gig namin, tpos may bigla akong napansing lalaki na nakatingin sa labas ng venue, pinapanood akong pumalo. so ako may papikit-pikit effect pa, as in feel na feel talaga...
pag tingin ko sa labas... si bagets pala!!! :-o
ayun, bigla akong nanlamig at pinawisan ng sabay... :oops:
first time kong maramdaman yung ganung klaseng kaba... ganun ba talaga pag nakita mong pinapanood ka ng idolo mo?

alam naman natin na kapag drummer nakakapanood sa ibang drummer, talagang pinagmamasdan yung pagtugtog niya. at tsaka masmadali nating naririnig yung mga kaunting sablay sa mga tugtugan.
well for me, kung may musician na nanonood sakin, sobrang focus ako sa pagtutugtog ko. but i often play in church, so si God yung center ng focus ko. i think of it as a "gift" to offer to God. but as for the musicians who watch me play, halu halo din talaga. kaba at saya kasi pwede mong ipakita sa kanya yung skill mo.

The mere fact that someone is watching & listening while I play is enough for me to be flattered. Yun naman talaga ang purpose ng pagiging musician/performing artist, diba? :wink:
Pero pag umiiling-iling yung viewer at hinihimas yung baba nya, kakabahan na ako nun :oops:
I tend to observe the audience's body language;ganun din sa kapwa ko musicians; dun ako nakakakuha ng hints kung agreeable ba yung palo ko o hindi; then I act accordingly. 8-)

definitely conscious lalo na pag alam mo na magaling... you tend to think na dapat medyo "makapaglagay" ka rin sa chops pero you end up doing "poste" hehe... naranasan niyo to guys no?! hahaha! :-D

Malimit, lalo na pag straight 8th na mabilis ang tugtugan. Mag papaka metronome na lang ako kesa sumablay, nakakahiya :-D

naalala ko yung sabi ni kuya roger sakin na you cannot rate a drummer or musician by just watching him/her once even many times...you should know him/her more than that...... agree po ba kayo dito....

pero asteg paren kc music to eh... lahat tau nagkakaintidihan d2...
kaya keri lang.. play lang.. ako as long as feel mo ung energy ng drummer kahit nde flashy bsta swabe asteg na asteg yun!! hehe

At first you get a little excited... :-D
and then you get worried...because you dont know his/her skills
and then you get comfortable...pounding with their eyes glued and watching your every stroke
and then you get delighted and proud that you didnt suck up...the wholetime they were starin..........and enjoying your performance...
and most of all the happy part is when you get out to face them.....and giving you positive words of your playing.. :roll:

pag may kilalang magaling na musikero or drummer
na nanonood. kailangan tlga positive ka pag ganyan
kasi oras na nagnerbyos nakow hehe.

Excited dahil natutuwa sila sa kapwa drummers nila. Very appreciative tayo sa ibang drummers dahil iba-iba styles natin and we might even pick-up a few things from them to add to our present knowledge. :-)

well show ko ngayon. nood na lang sya..he-he-he-, pag show na nya eh di ako naman manonood. isa pa kaya sila nanonood eh suporta sa kapwa musikero, ganun naman talaga we are in one buisness., isa pa kaya sila nanonood eh bilib sila sa atin dahil kung hindi wala sana sila doon dahil wala tayong kwenta sa kanila.

sakin ineenjoy ko lang.. minsan binabati nila ako... pero un nga kahit kunting mali mo sa pagpalo mararamdaman nila un, confident naman ako sa mga palo ko.. and para sakin ok naman pakinggan, ahm ewan ko lang sa ibang drummer na nakikinig...hehe inggetero pala ko. pag iba naman ang nakikita ko magdrums, gusto ko na rin magdrums kasabay sila.hehehe :mrgreen:

depende... hehe.. kakatakot minsan kasi minsan alam mong magaling...
minsan excited pag troopa.. pakita ka ng da moves mo.. hehe... depende...
pero dapat ayus lang.. no nid to show.. kung anu ginawa mo sa banda mo ng ensayo e un din ang gawin mo sa gig.. may napapansin akong lagayan minsan e... nakita ko dati nauna bamboo tapos spongecola.. si vic talagng malagay dahil un ung ginawa niya.. sa spongecola sunod.. naglagay di bagay halos every other bar may fill in... at ang kanta "nakapagtataka" wow... stick to your thing na lang... other will complement you for giving the right feel for the song.. not always the "licks"

I'm open to comments and suggestions anyway... the only thing I hate is when non-musicians compare me with other drummers... especially those with very limited knowledge when it comes to drumming... I hate it when they say "this drummer is better than you" or "you're better than him" like... what gives them the right to say that?!

Medyo kabado na excited kasi makikita nya skills ko, hindi pa naman ako ganon ka-confident pero i think i can show him a little of my skills. pagkatapos ng gig, makikipagkwentuhan, pakikiramdaman kung sakaling marami syang alam technically para may mapag-aralan ako. madalas mangyari ang ganitong situations sa mga bars and battles. pero most of the time sa bars kasi pag sa battle, kung minsan maangas yung mga ibang kasali....

share ko lang one instance na ngyari saken baka makatulong sa inyo. hehehe
i was really kabado once sa isang bar gig ages ago. and i had that issue, my good friend told me,
"never let anyone, anybody or even yourself, tell you that somebody is a better musician than you are. each of us has our own unique style and technique in playing that no one else can ever replicate. uniqueness is a basic factor of being a human, that's why YOU are the BEST in what you do"
mula noon dedma na lang saken ung kaba and consciousness pag may nanonood na drummer.
and pag ako nanonood, appreciate lang ng music. maybe study his techniques pag naimpress and iinject ko sa playing ko.. pero nde naman glued ung mata ko sa kanya, lalo na pag chikambebots ung vocalist. haha

ako nman prang excited pa..napapansin ko kc na ngagawa ko ung mga hindi ko magawa pag mag isa lng ako pero pag marami ng taong parang biglang gumagling ako..i don't know why..katulad nlng yung sa valley of chrome na forever young..nung magisa pa ko nagsasaby tlga paa ko pero nung nagpractice na kme sa studio..madame kami dun..mga 14 (prang mini EB series!) pti crush ko ndun na diretso ko ung mga tapak so sa dobol peds na parang jj! nde tlga ako sumablay khet isa..napatayo pa nga ako nung natapos na ung kanta kc nde ako makapaniwalang nagawa ko ee 2nd time ko lng tumapak sa dobol peds nun..pede ring sabihing noob's luck pero napaka swerte namang maging swerte nun.. :-D
