wala na sigurong nakakaalala sa neocolours pero nung nadinig ko sila nung grade 6 ako i was elated. para sa akin, world class pop yung music nila nung 80's.
then of course there was intovoys. seriously, their first single (as far as i remember yon yung first na nadinig ko sakanila), yung english (the title evades) was pretty darn good.
pasok naman yung eraserheads, pare ko. sobrang pop, ang galing.
then i heard wolfgang with halik ni hudas. wow.
rivermaya elevated opm to a new level too.
lately i was listening to up dharma down ... very fresh, world class.
teka nalimot ko afterimage ... next in line!

i truly believe that nowhere on this planet, at any point in time, (except maybe now marami nang gaya gaya sa kanila like my band hahaha) was there a band like P.O.T.
simply world class quality songwriting, arrangement and passion. minus the drugs and the sex of course. :evil: after P.O.T., parang ang hirap nang makinig ng ibang bands, for me the death of P.O.T. marked the death of OPM. of course ngayon, buhay na uli OPM. and i think i know sino nag resuscitate ng OPM, (though i could be wrong)...
Kitchie Nadal! all of a sudden ang mga label naghanap na ng mga new acts na pantapat!

Eraserheads na. They brought everything together. Kahit sino nakakaappreciate ng music nila, from the elites to the masa, and everyone in between.
Pero right now, I think Up Dharma Down is making waves as well. Iba talaga ang music nila eh, you'd really notice them. They wouldn't be featured in Time Magazine for nothing.

pero para sa akin yun wuds,phil violators,dead ends,betrayed, bad omen, tapos lahat ng sa mga LA days pa, dun kse ako nakikinig palagi eh, pinakamatagal nga ata sa number 1 yun kanta ng teeth na laklak, tapos gusto ko din nung mga panahon na yun yung praning ng datus tribe,tapos yun mga taon na yun hindi takot mag pa tugtog yung FM radio ng death metal, yun mga KNK,iconoclast ba yun ? mga ganun, sarap ng panahon na yun, minsan pag walang magawa tambay lang sa kwarto ng tanghali kinig ka lang sa la 105.9 di ka na tatamarin eh. ngayon langya makikita mo sa tv puro mga pa rock na tulad ng callallily, pansin ko lang sa fans nun puro bata at babae(OT).. mas masarap ang tugtugan dati para sa akin lang ha.. hehehehe!! mas masarap at swabe.... marami pa mga banda nun di ko na matandaan yun iba, mutiny ok yun, dead nailz, ano pa ba?
basta sa akin hindi banda ang nag change ng OPM scene natin, kung di yun panahon...

For me its the eraserheads since they were the band i grew up listening to and they were the true flag-bearers of my generation. The way they dominated the local music scene, voiced out the emotions of the youth of their time, and paved the way for every other pinoy band that followed, is the kind of stuff legends are made of. Not having been much exposed to the other great bands that came before them, it would be unfair for me to claim that the eheads are the most important band in opm history. But the tremendous impact of the music they produced just cannot be denied nor equalled. I'm just a fan who's eternally grateful to have been born at the right time to witness and experience the greatness of the eraserheads.:-D

hehe, ngayon it's hale and cueshe, when they got sikat everybody (ok sige, not everybody) seemed to want to be emo. but lyrics-wise? no comment. talk about taste.
for me Rivermaya turned the OPM scene upside down with how they come up with astig albums, esp. yung mga themes nila (think Asin). ayun.

Those times, 90's, haiskul ako noon.. we all wanted to sound like Hammett.. But when the Eli Buendia's Chuck-taylor-wearing Band (yup, they even brought that back to the scene noon) came up, it kinda wooed us away from heavy metal for some time.. Like for one time, we were all yelling "...enter night.. exit light.. take my hand.."
tapos naging.. "di ba! 't@ng-!na! nagmukha akong [chewbacca].. pinaasa mo lang akooooo.."

tanggapin na natin na kanya kanyang trip lang yan hehe pero ung mga bumubuhay talaga sa opm scene shempre eraserheads-dahil madaming nahumaling magbanda dahil sa kanila, juan dela cruz-nagmulat sa alternatibong mundo sa pinas, parokya-dahil andaming natuwa sa kalokohan nila at mala pang araw araw na nangyayari sa typical na buhay ng mga kabataang pinoy,rivermaya-dahil tumatagal parin sila at walang takot na magpalit palit ng genre,slapshock-dahil sila ang unang nagbukas sa pandinig ng mga pinoy na pwede dn pala sa pinas ang ganto kaingay na genre,typecast-nagbukas sa isipan ng mga emo-ng bata sa panahon ngayon..

for me hindi naman groundbreaking ang sound ng Urbandub sa OPM. talaga lang makaka-relate ka kasi puro love/heartbreak ang theme ng songs nila. oi no offense sa fans ng Urbandub ha! fan din ako!
