I heard that 105.9 FM will be back on the air this month..... I also heard that the format will be classic rock mix with modern rock and lots of Pinoy Rock (old and new) in between......... I hope this plan will get off the ground.......

more indie recordings [with the advent of digital recording] wud mean more material .. this was LA's edge .. baxta may recorded material they wud try to play it ... pantay saken in a way kxe from dahong palay to brimstone to deadnails to DAB to SkyChurch to Mariya's MIstress .. diverse ung playlist nila

its funny how i just "rescued" my LA 105.9 ALBUM from my dead tape deck earlier this week. i only started listening to it again yesterday.. made me wonder whatever happend to them?
only reason i signed up on here, was to ask what the fck happened to DJ CARLOS, THE DOCTOR and THE GHOST??? all i remember was waking up, tuned my radio to LA, and there was nothing. . ? i switched to NU107 and never looked back. i did hear rumours as to why LA105 went off air, but left phils soon after and never really found out. its hard to believe that was well over 10yrs ago..
what did happen to LA105?? :? :? :? :? :?

naalala ko before L.A. 105 completely went off air, parang nag palit pa sila ng format eh for ilang months din. mga pinapatugtog nila mga dance music mainstream pop hehe akala ko nga nasa kool 106 ako eh pala L.A. 105 parin :-D

Radio station siya na patok na patok nung 90's. Very supportive sa local rock scene dahil halos puro OPM rock ang tinutugtog. Bands that would otherwise have been ignored by other mainstream radio stations got ample airplay on LA.
If I remember correctly, sila rin yung tanging station nung panahon na 'yun na may lakas ng loob magpatugtog ng Slayer atbp. :evil:
The only bad thing about it then was some of it's DJ's were sobrang anti-hip-hop and didn't mince words even on the air. Hiphop was sort of the "emo" of the 90's IMHO, linalait at minamaliit ng mga "metal" at "rocker" back in the day. Resulta: rumble sa megamall at kung saan saan. Weird 'no? Nag-uupakan dahil magkaiba lang ang hilig sa music?

hahaha! naalala ko nung grade 6 ako, yung dj sa la 105 sinabi on air "hiphops are condemned to hell",message ng isang listener! kaya nag aaway away ang mga tao e.. :-D
nung time na yun, patok na patok yung top 40 shirts, tapos trenta trenta lumakad mga barkada nun at pareho pareho silang naka black na metallica, nirvana or pearl jam shirts :-D

we played sa rj underground last wed un show nila sa tv. tapos we gave the dj our EP. i asked kelan malalagay sa play list nila. She said its already on the playlist of 105.9 mabilis lang mga days lang ata pero i dont know what single they played. hehe

Division between hiphop and rockers makes LA 105.9 successful wayback 90's.
Its funny how they assassinated the characters and fashions and hip hop groups/followers.
I remember "Multong Hip Hop" by The Youth (Cruz,Javier,Carrasco) was first aired at LA 105.9 and then suddenly they cater and accept demos from hip hop influenced bands like Dogbones,Erectus,Sober,Loudwater,etc. :mrgreen:

NU has gone too...commercial...and emo-heavy....not that I hate emo or something..sukang suka lang ako na parang jukebox na ang NU to me. very limiting.

tama si insultedgamer. local: listen to private stock, old school pinoy rockabilly. hilera, new school kids ito. pati kamote chunks. panalo rin. brass monkeys big band rockabilly. parang brian setzer orchestra. galing ng bahista nito. :-)
foreign, old school: eddie cochran, buddy holly, gene vincent. yung mga rockabilly nung late 70's and 80's: stray cats, screaming blue messiahs. yung mga bago ngayon di ko na alam, eh. alam ko lang brian setzer orchestra. :)

RJ underground radio is launching an all pinoy rock countdown on october 24. From my understanding this would be the only all Filipino chart show of its kind. Hope it takes off.

okay yung theme ng RJ underground radio 105.9 lahat ng modern,classic,unsigned,indie,OPM rock ...accomodating pa yung show kasi everytime magrerequest ka ng song naplaplay agad without waiting for so long..kahit medyo may di pa sila kalevel ng ibang station in terms of "linaw" ng mga music na piniplay atlist supportive sila sa mga unsigned bands,binibigyan nila ng airtime sa playlist nila at live guesting sa station at accomodating sila sa mga song request..sana rumami pa ang mga rock station sa manila or sa pilipinas pra maraming option ang mga rock fanatics

The Time Slot of Pinoy Rock every sunday in UR 105.9 FM has been extended from 12 to 4 PM na. While the Blues time slot was transferred to 10 to 12 MN every sunday., as requested by many listeners.... R U listening to U R?

as to the hip hop at yung away ng mga punks or bullocks ba yun? sa megamall i was hanging out there as a liner dun kasi lagi grand eb at sa shangrila every saturday afternoon. mandaluyong madalas nga away dun sa food court malapit sa ice skating rink mid nineties to late nineties.
sana magkaroon sila internet radio wala ako transistor will check if my mp3 player with fm will be able to scoop up the reception.

Well kung bumalik na uli sila ay dapat mag UMPISA na silang tumanggap ng DEMO ng mga local underground acts.
Only LA 105.9 plays THRASH METAL,DEATH METAL,HARDCORE,PUNK demos wayback 90's.
NU 107 doesnt have any BALLS to play that KIND of MUSIC..
Kaya minsan ang NU 107 dati nala labellan na MUSIC for IDIOT KONYO.
Yung in the raw ni FRANCIS BREW...dati excited ako na makinig pero after 9 consecutive weeks of listening it at walang Metal/Hardcore/Punk na demo,tinabangan na ako at hindi na ako nakinig mula noon...
