and the intro of skylark's wildflower... a perfectly executed one can cause an unexpected orgasm... :D

Sa lahat ng solos ni YJM, the greatest guitar soloist who ever lived , eto yun pinaka malungkot.
2. Rebel Yell by Steve Stevens
Steve has one of the coolest guitar styles and sound. Very tasteful player. Pamatay yun mga tricks and noises he makes with his guitar.
3. Sweet Child By Slash
Gas gas na to, pero remember the first time u heared it on the radio or seen the video. Nakakagulantang. Kasi nga nobody used pentatonics like that before.

it's not just about how fast you could execute the guitar solos. i'd much rather feel every note played by the guitarist.
perf de castro is overrated. he's a great guitarist and all but i just think that his stint with rivermaya (first album) is so passe. get over it people. mike elgar could take him on any day. not only could mike elgar play guitar, he could sing too. want to listen to a great solo? listen to the live version of "alab ng puso" by rivermaya. once more, you could feel every note being played! great riff? give the red house painters a go. listen to their song "between days". awesome stuff.

perf is an accomplished guitarist. when it comes to music theory, there are not a lot of guitarists out there who could even come to par with him. that's about it though, i've heard his songs with triaxis..they're not really that great.
mike elgar shreds now but i believe that's because rico blanco wants him to. if you listen to his earlier stuff (7 foot jr days) he could pull off some nice solos without being excessive.

i don't care about the technicality or complexity of a guitar solo, to be honest. i also love using effects and feedback with my stuff. try me.
weezer's "el scorcho" has something unique about it. it sounds like its off-key but somehow fits the song perfectly. brilliant stuff by rivers cuomo.

weezer's "el scorcho" has something unique about it. it sounds like its off-key but somehow fits the song perfectly. brilliant stuff by rivers cuomo.

Maraming attempts na icover yun, dahil astig talaga. Kahit sila SRV, Vai, andy timmons at eric johnson, sinubukan yon. and what about Mr. Crowley by Ozzy/Randy Rhoads? That's a classic solo right there. I'll think about more..

Freebird - classic rock solo.
Symphony of Destuction - i love this solo, goes continuously and ends again with the intro riff. i'm sure there are a lot like this, but this one just stands out for me.

I know this thread started a long time ago pero ngayon lang ako napadaan and noticed what the TS said about being "gay" guitarists.. I'm not a fan of Malmsteen or Petrucci either pero I think its not mature to label them that way.. just my two cents..
Anyway back to topic, one of the best solos I've heard is the one played by Paul Gilbert in their song "Nothing but love"

Kung tutuusin ang very simple lang nyan, pero para sakin isa sya sa best kasi ang fantastic ng pagkakaplay at contsruct nya. Halos di ako nasasawa pakinggan. :)
