I know there's a "ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE" thread, but almost no one answers the questions there so I'll post this question here instead. :-D
I've never owned a phaser before (except for the ones that come with multi effects) and I'm seriously considering on getting one to add some flavor during palm mutes, and possibly during solos.
Right now, it's a tossup between
MXR phase 90 (5.5K)
BOSS PH3 (4.5K)
any other suggestions?

MXR Phase 90 gets my vote. Very warm sounding.
Do the script mod to take out some distortion.
Gets you that Aint Talkin Bout Love sound.

Another industry standard is the EHX small stone. Sa PJC yata meron. Known to be warmer than MXR Phase 90 (if you're into that sort of thing). David Gilmore used this. Worth considering.

i've read reviews at HC regarding the adaptor having a different tip, and volume drop issues but I guess I'll have to check this out for myself :-)

Yea, may volume drop nga ang Small Stone (I tried it na). Yung MXR Phase 90, on the other hand, has a boost. So, whichever works for you more.

i only have ph-2.. pero sa 6k, i'd go for second hand phase90, mga 3.5k+, and second hand ph-1r.. hehehe

I asked the same question above, although i have a very vague picture in my mind how the knob works.
counter clockwise for low, swirling, wooshing phase effects?
and clockwise for bright, shimmery and harsh?

really? i wonder what branch? i noticed that they're not consistent when it comes to sales. I bought strings at Salonga Cubao (10% discount), but at SMNE the discount was only at 5%, or none at all.
anyway, i just called salonga and they said that they're selling it now for 5,570. (originally at 6.5K).

Maganda na yung tunog ng Phase 90 on its own so speed knob na lang talaga ang kailangan kaya isa lang ang knob. The depth of the phaser varies with the speed. Subukan nyo na lang ang find out for yourselves ;)

ako boss pedal for phaser fave ko na model ay yung super phaser na gamit ng madamit sikat na band locally at foreign band .

I usually recommend EHX pedals EXCEPT when it comes to mid-priced phasers. I mean, I like the Small Stone but I really, really like the MXR Phase 90 better.
Also, ano ginagawa ng script switch sa EVH Phase 90?

It changes the tone of the phaser so that it'll be more reminiscent of the vintage "script logo" Phase 90 :)

btw, tried the small stone over at a friend's house.
i liked the sound but i might have problems with the volume drop.
i'd prefer the boost that the phase 90 will give :-)

I tried this one time using a BF-2 and PH-2, believe me, hindi maganda kinalabasan :-D :-D :-D
Hmm... depende nalang siguro sa timpla ng effects.. I use the flanger as a chorus pedal lang talaga eh, pwede naman yun diba? :-D :-D :-D

hmm... dapat siguro pareho yung speed settings nila?
but i am thinking that it will sound harsh and warbly... :-)
yeah, i guess pwede din chorus yung flanger.
i also use the echopark as a chorus or reverb of sorts sometimes. 3 knobs sa taas naka point at 1 o' clock, mod knob at 9 and naka dotted eight note yung function control :-) ah, tapos tape model :-) try mo with the flanger, and kung may chorus ka. shimmery!
hehe, OT na. try ko mamaya dito sa office yung flanger + phaser combination, may pang-practice ako na zoom multifx dito :-D
still haven't purchased the phase90, by the way. still having 2nd thoughts about the small stone :-)

i believe the guitarist of incubus has 2 boss phasers in his rig and he uses it brilliantly! sori forgot his name.. mike something.. :mrgreen:

get an sib fazeadelic. worth it. dual channel. channel switching is for rate changes.

finally got myself a phase 90 :-) 4K 8-)
i love it!
it gives this slight volume boost which is cool for me. and yeah, may slight "distortion" nga when you engage the pedal but it doesn't bother me at all.
i mainly use this on my clean riffs with the compressor,delay and chorus all turned on.
hmm, what can i say? it gives that low whooshing jet-like sound at <50%, then warbly and shimmery at >50%.
i mainly set it at 9'o clock and it really does wonders to my sound. and yeah, it does wonders and adds that extra "oomph" during palm mutes when doing funk passages.
probably not for all genres but this one's a winner in my book! 8-)
i'm starting to fall in love with mxr pedals :evil:

Phase 90 parin yung main phaser niya yung EVH. Yung dalawang PH-2 niya for special purposes lang. Yung isa for volume swelling. Yung isa yung pang mode II na setting. Pwera dun puro phase 90 na.
Kung radiohead ang gusto ng TS eh Small Stone gamit nila. Kung Eheads Phase 90 o 100.
Phase 90 ako maganda na talaga timpla kasi kaya isa lang knob niya.
PH-2 minsan lang ako tamaan sa tunog.
Phase 90 madalas ako kilabutan ke subtle o intense yung setting.

Yung vintage phase 90 mas warm at malambing yung tunog kesa bago. Perfect for low-gain.
