Lately i have been frequent at the Classifieds and parami ng parami ang nagbebenta ng JJ Sig Snare nila. What could be the reasons behind this? Pasensya na po. Kasi mahirap lang po ako na drummer, wala ako pambili ng mga signature series. So it hurts me to see these snares being bought and after a few months, being sold. We should know our distinct sound and invest to complete it. Not just buy gears because it's the craze....

oo pare.baka yung iba di lang bagay yung tunog sa tugtugan nila. kay bili lang agad dahil uso kahit di alam yung tunog na para sa kanila.

yup, i was recently a victim of that, pero hindi sig snare. I was GAS'ed to buy a piccolo dahil wala na akong mabiling iba. Nung una parang nagsisisi ako and gusto ko agad ibenta, pero i tried to compromise the situation and biglang gumanda ang tunog nya. Hindi ko na ibebenta piccolo ko hehehe....

ano yun so gusto mo palabasin fafa draco na pag matono din ng maayos yung JJ snare gaganda din at magugustuhan din nila tunog? hehe.

In a way, pero dapat before we buy stuff, we should know our distinct sound. Balak ko naman na dati bumili pa ng piccolo para sa showband ko, kaso sabi ko huling bagay ko na yun bibilhin. Kaso napa-aga ang bili ko. Kaya GAS attack ako.
So, instead of selling it, i tried to make it useful. Ayun, nagustuhan ng mga kasama ko sa banda....

I don't think so. Mas maganda kasi kapag expanded ang market. Dahil maririnig mo at makikita lahat ng klase ng tunog. And there you can determine your sound....

What sound could drummers be searching for? Ako kasi, madaling masatisfy taste ko since di ako pro like you guys. All I know is that my export snare could not keep up with my current snares, but to which among my current snare is better, di ko masasabi.
All I now is sometimes I like my yamaha. Sometimes, my tama, which is loud. But both of them are very sensitive, thats for me, since 5.5 deep lang.

siguro nga nauso nga lang... :roll: pero pwede rin dahil may mga bagong dating na signature snares na gusto nila i-try... baka gusto lang din nila mag explore... magastos nga lang... hehehe... pero kung madami namang "BREADS" madali lang gumastos... kaya un... :lol: sa ngayon,,, nararamdaman ko na ang susunod na mauuso NANAMAN eh ang vinnie paul snare... pakiramdam ko lang... hehehe... :-D peace sa mga bumili ng JJ na binebenta na ngayon ha... :-P

isa ako sa mga nagbebenta ng JJ snare sa classified adds..
kaya ko po binebenta yung snare ko kasi parang trip ko yung vinnie paul snare, pero unti-unti kong narealize na sayang lang yung pinagbili ko nung JJ, naisip ko din yung tunog niya na ayos naman, kaya ayun.. rinetract ko na. hehehe.. :-D

sakin naman hindi naman sa ayaw ko na yung jj. mas gusto ko lang yung vinnie paul. kung nauna dumating yung vinnie paul malamang yun binili ko. kung pwede lang itago yung jj e kaso masyado na malaki naka invest kung pareho ireretain. so give up nalang yung jj para sa vinnie paul. pero tunog panalo naman yung jj lalo na sa record ng dieagram ( banda ni bro cavs) hehe galing ni sir macoy. pero ayos na kinuha ko yung vinnie paul mas gusto tunog mas malalim e mas mataba. mas gusto ko kasi mas deep. un lang :wink:

not really true. nung nasa yupangco si jp, i tried to test the chad smith, jj and a 14x3.5 free floater. balak ko talaga bilin yung chad kaya ako nandun sa tindahan pero naiuwi ko yung free floater. the chad and jj sounded one dimensional to me, maganda lang tumunog kapag mahigpit ang tuning (personal opinion ko po). e lahat naman ng snare basta higpitan mo gaganda kahit papano yung tunog

hhmm, daming na atang ayaw at walang believe sa versatility ng JJ sig snare ah...siguro po you should try sir macoy's JJ sig snare... :evil: nasa pagtune lang po tlaga siguro yan. salamat..BTW, nice thread sir draco.

Ayus naman JJ sig snare ah. I first heard it when Barbie played sa DLSU with Franklin on drums and Ritchie on bass. Ang lutong ng tunog! Pero talaga bang versatile yun? Kasi ang first impression ko dun, "mamimili ng tugtugan 'to." Sakin lang yun. Saan bang mga tugtugan na-apply ang JJ sig snare? pardon my ignorance
And sir peeves, ano tunog ng 14x3.5 na free floating snare?

no complains about my jj snare masarap tunog masarap gamitin! well, ever since it came out i wanted one hindi dahil sa cool sya tignan kundi dahil sa tunog, esp. yung side stick nya. para sa akin versatile sya in a little way pero, meron din pagka hindi!?!?! am i making sense?? hmmmm parang hirap expalin ito ha!! hahahaha!!! well opinion ko lang naman yun!! hip hop and rnb no problem alternative no problem pero standards big problem sya for me!! hahahaha!!!
kasi record namin minsan gig namin rnb wala problema sabay meron kinanta na isang standard naku rockers ang dating yun lang naman hahaha!
hindi ako nagsisi na trade ko one of my priced possessions which is a pearl custom classic one piece maple to sandythedrummer

Okay mabalik sa topic.
For me naging trend sha. Kasi una halos lahat ng nakaka sabay ko naka JJ(franklin, jeff lima, kaka). So gumaya naren ako. Hehehe. At first nagustuhan ko yung sound nya then napansin ko na mejo "One dimensional" yung sound nya. Dapat cranked yung tuning nya. Then when i decided to let it go eh dun naman ako nagka Omar Hakim snare and this snare is way too far from the JJ snare in terms of character.
La lang.

Like what I posted on one of the threads, Jim Haler of Yamaha Drums said at the March '08 issue of Modern Drummer, "The majority of drummers buy with their eyes, not their ears." It's actually true. This notion does make us stop for awhile and think about it.
Going back to topic, way back when JP Buduan was still with Yupangco, he let me try the Jordison snare drum, which was still new then. Personally, I like its crispness and it has a generous amount of crack. I have a fondness for power piccolo snare drums, and its sound is something that I can find useful with my band's style of music. This drum is essentially a Pearl Ultracast model, but outfitted for Joey Jordison's snare drum taste and preferences.
I wouldn't mind owning one, though right now I won't feel thrilled with having one. Why? Because there are too many drummers who already have it. It doesn't give me a certain uniqueness or exclusivity. Well, that's just me. I would love to own and play models which aren't so much of a sellout. Yung tipong, "Ah... Only 3 people in the Philippines own that.", something like that.
Again, this is just my personal opinion.

I got my JJ last december, kainitan ng "JJ craze". I've always wanted a piccolo sounding snare, para may contrast sa 14" maple ko. Pero bago ako kumuha, nagresearch muna ako ng reviews. I even went to one of brother Franklin's gigs, I asked for personal reviews and even tried the snare myself, dun ako nakumbinsi. So far wala naman ako nakita o narinig na problema, swak naman sya sa tugtugan namin - pop, pop jazz, ballads and even dance. :-D
IMO, siguro nga naging craze siya. Signature snare kse siya na hindi naman ganun kamahal, kaya siguro marami rin ang kumuha. Tapos laki pa ng influence ng Slipknot sa music ngayon. opinion lang naman po.

I hope you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost?
I just learned a few days back that there is another 3mm cast aluminum Pearl free floater model that could have been the basis for that Sig snare. The difference is the dept (5.8x14, yes, not 5.5,but im not sure if 5.8) and it has triple flange bottom hoops.

Mapapalitan na ng Vinnie Paul craze yang jj kc meron na sa JB music ng Vinnie Paul Signature sanre tska chad smith tska omar hakim. Kung gano kadami nakita kong may jj ganun din dadami ang mag kakaron ng vinnie paul. Magaganda nga naman kc mga snare na yan eh. D pala maganda hahaha malupet pala hahahahah!

in my personal opinion. ako kasi may JJ din. minsan kasi sa akin ha nagbabago bago yung tsate na gusto ko minsan ok sakin yung tunog may time naman na gusto ko wood kaya nga snare ko dalawa isang wood isnag metal minsan depende rin sa mood ng tenga mo eh. binili ko JJ kasi metal shell sya para maiba naman. nagtry rin ako ibenta dahil need cash that time emergency. sya naisip ko ibenta kasi nahihirapan pa ko i tune pero nung may nahiraman na ko money di ko na tinuloy yung pag benta kasi nagustuhan ko na din yung tunog nya kaya para di ako magsawa palitan nalng ginagamit ko minsan wood minsan metal.

indeed sir this is a good suggestion... you really cant get everything from one snare...

^ Yup, the JJ Snare is not an Ultracast model. But like what I mentioned on the previous page, its design is based on the Ultracast snare drum. It was simply altered to JJ's specs and taste. To be specific, the 6.5"x13" size & the Slipknot graphics. 8-)
