What is your genre?

actually i have two bands the 1st one is Metal band which is barabbas, and the other one is an alternative which is Valen. but i have to vote one lang so Metal ang vote ko. yun lang.. thanks god bless..

Same case with Sir Barrabas wherein I have 2 bands which have different genres, one is metal while the other is more on blues/classic rock. If I were to choose one I'd put my vote on metal.

I am a drummer who has rock roots, has a progressive and fusion background, has played with an orchestra that plays pop, Broadway and classical music, has been with Top-40 bands, is currently with an R&B/hip-hop/soul band, also currently a guest musician for a church, loves to doodle with jazz and Latin grooves, and is willing to explore and learn various contemporary styles.  Whew...  :-D

Personally, I don't want to be pigeonholed into just one musical style.  I am still very much an apprentice of drumming and music, and I'm open-minded and appreciative of various musical styles.

So, I decide not to choose.  For me, it can be anything, as long as it's quality music & it feels good.  Dapat masarap.  :-)

i dont stick to one genre, paiba iba ang trip ko eh  :-)
eto ang karaniwang trip ko:

-funk
-rock (progressive, metal, alternative etc.)
-jazz (thanks to my parents)
-RnB (thanks to my sisters)
-hip hop
-old school rap music (cypress hill, notorious b.i.g., public enemy etc.)
-electronic music (house, chillout, breakbeat, drum and bass)
-mainstream
-latin (unti unti ko siyang nagugustuhan  :lol: )

WOW!!! ang dami palang Rock, metal,and, hiphop drummers dito! Makikisali lang po! :-D Gospel Drummer Po ako, ang style ko circulates mainly in chops/licks, and offcourse,grooves :-D. Pero pwede rin po ako sumalang sa rock, basta di ginagamitan yung song ng double peds(di po kasi ako nag gagamit nun ehh..). :-D

may kasabihan kame sa music club dati kapag nagpapagalingan at nagtatalo na ang iba-ibang genre: "basta rrrraaaaaaaak uuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnn rrrrrrrrrrooooooooowwwwwwwwwllllllllllllll!!" at "hindi mo ugat, wala kang dugo nito, ba't mo pagpipilitang kabisado mp na?"

walang genre na mas magaling walang genre na mabaho (pwera boy bands)
lahat tayo ay ginawa na may kanya-kanyang kakayahan kaya't abilidad mo ang ipag-malaki wag ang abilidad ng iba

hehe just my two cents :-D

actually di naman natin kailangan ng genre. as long as you enjoy drumming and music ok na yon. mahirap din kasi magstick into one genre. so dapat maging flexible ka.

but I for now I also have a band kasama mga 30 - 40 yr old musicians and we play jazz and blues, they are my fathers friends.. and I love it!

Because in how you play VERSITALITY IS THE GAME!!

I think we should clearly define the genres enumerated.

For example, when we say mainstream, there's mainstream rock, mainstream jazz....   When we think of Gospel music, there's Gospel music which has a rock format, an alternative format, an R&B/soul format...  Rock and metal?  I think generally speaking, metal can be classified under rock.

We should clearly define each musical style.  Just my opinion.  :-)
