I also use Inspector. More analyzers here.

I tend to favor AudioMeter and Blue Cat's Digital Peak Meter.

hi good day guys

buhayin ko lng ehehe ive some questions, analysers again..

sencia sa dumbass question, pero i cant seem to find the right terms for research at di nko masyadong updated,

Q: merong na ba analyser na ?

you select a track and run it through this analyzer and the analyzer detects clips? i mean auto find/detect sya ng sections with clips,, the way i use analyzers kci i playback the track pa and manually watch for clips, and mka ka determine ba sya kung w/c frequency nag papa-clip ? ano ang tawag dito? what vst could you recommend?

thanks

Clipping is more amplitude dependent rather than frequency dependent. Frankly, I don't know of any realtime analyzers that can give you a reading on clipping frequencies although some wave editors include the functionality. For ex., Wavelab has an analysis function that can display peak db and frequency on a selected portion of the wave. Audacity's analyze funtion has a 'find clipping' command. I surmise that feedback destroyers like Behri's Shark DSP could theoretically identify a 'clipping' frequency, but that is conjectural.

SSL? The LMC-1 is more of a compressor than an analyzer.

Sir! There is another free plug-in in the SSL site... If I remember it correctly, its an Inter-Sample peak meter... The flashy disco lights plug-in!

Oh! You mean the X-ISM level meter? It will tell you if a file is clipping during playback, but it won't point where the clipping is occuring - the best you can do is to stop playback when the meter indicates clipping. The Roger Nichols Digital Inspector does the same thing, but with more data compared to the SSL offering.

You can visually identify clipping by examining the waveform. At points where the peaks exhibit a 'plateau', that is where digital clipping occurs. In some cases, there are waves that display clipping but without any audible artifacts. Still, it is best practice to mix to a max level of -6 dB at the master output bus. That way, you leave some headroom for the mastering engineer to tweak your tracks.
