Sound Reinforcement Equipment wish list
« on: January 18, 2009, 09:20:57 AM »
Hi to all!
Mga sir patulong naman po sa wish list ko this 2009 for my sound reinforcement project.. pakicheck naman po kung ano pa kulang or mali sa list ko..

speakers:
1. 1 pair of full range speaker with 300watts continuous / 600watts music.
2. 1 pair of sub woofer speaker with 500watts power handling.
3. 1 pair of 300 watts monitor speaker.
all pair with enough wattage power amp.. or should I go with powered subwoofer?

signal processor:
4. behringer virtualizer pro efx
5. dbx 231 dual 31 band EQ (do i really need dual 31 band EQ?)
6. Behringer MULTICOM PRO-XL MDX4600 Processor (ano ba maganda counterpart nito sa dbx?)
7. BBE Sonic Maximizer (does it really help para mas gumanda ang live sound?)

crossover:
8. DBX 223 Stereo 2-Way, Mono 3-Way Crossover

tama po ba itong mga toh?? please help!

thanks philmusic!

Mas OK ang dbx para sa akin... but wait, saan mo ba gagamitin? indoor? outdoor? recording? live band? sound reinforcement?

thanks sir!
actually gagamitin ko sana sa outdoor (pang gig) pero gusto ko yung pede rin pang recording. but i don't know kung parehas yung gamit na kailangan ko para dito. and i already have my initial list para pang outdoor.
ito yung list ko..

speakers:
1. 1 set of full range speaker with 300watts continuous / 600watts music.
2. 1 set of sub woofer speaker with 500watts power handling.

signal processor:
3. behringer virtualizer pro efx
4. dbx 231 dual 31 band EQ (do i really need dual 31 band for my set with
    only 2 set of speakers?)
5. Behringer MULTICOM PRO-XL MDX4600 Processor (ano ba maganda
    counterpart nito sa dbx?)

crossover:
6. DBX 223 Stereo 2-Way, Mono 3-Way Crossover

ano po sa tingin niyo mga pro? bago pa lang kasi ako sa ganitong business and i want to invest sa mga gamit na tatagal din at maaasahan..
please let me know kung may mali or kulang sa list ko..

thanks!

sir, i hope this helps:

speaker system:
2 or 4 per side Front of House Speakers (preferably dual 12 or 15 inch woofers)
1 per side dual 18inch subwoofer or 2 per side single 18inch subwoofer
4 units stage monitor (esp. if full band set up)

power amps:
should of course match with your speaker's wattage and impedance(8ohms,4ohms, etc) (i suggest QSC MX/RMX/PLX/EX series, YAMAHA P or H series and of course CROWN CE and Macrotech series)

processor:
1 unit dual 28 or 30 or 31 band EQ for the FOH (dbx or rane or art)
1 unit dual 15 or 30 or 31 band EQ for the monitors  (dbx or rane or art)
1 unit compressor/limiter (preferably 2-channel)  (dbx, dod, symetrix)
1 unit vocal processor (effects)   (yamaha, alesis)
1 unit crossover (2 or 3 way stereo, 4 way mono) (rane, dbx, a.r.t.)
* you might also want to invest on a power conditioner (i suggest FURMAN)

the brands are just suggestions sir. ive tried those brands and i still use most of them kasi. also, im not that familiar or i havent tried the behringer processors that you mentioned so i couldnt comment on it.

by the way sir, im selling some of my equipment, maybe you  need some of them. i'll email them na lang. what's your email add?

ang gaganda ng gamit mo but unfortunately low budget pa lang ako...

but will contact you pag may napili ako sa mga processors mo..

thanks again!

by the way, pang malalaking venue na ata pag 1200 watts na subs diba?

yes sir pwede na 500watts ung sub nyo. pag full band, mas buo pag two subs per side. pag pang p.a. lang, pwede na 1 per side lang. ;)

thanks for the reply!

hi there, i noticed that you have the BBE sonic max on your wish list, a piece of advice, dont use the BBE for live sound application, it'll make your sound crappy. . .

Sir makikisali, I hope you dont mind.

I have these:
Behringer SL2442FX 24 channels
Behringer dual 15 band EQ
Phonic max 1500-2 units
Phonic Mar 6-1 unit
JBL SF15 250W/1000W peak - 2 units
Crown 12" subs 300W peak(I think dont really know the specs kasi binigay nalang sa akin to) - 2 units

This used to be for my home use only but recently oppurtunity and demand for PA rentals came. I wanted to change the subwoofer system to my set up.

I just want to ask what are my options? And how much do I need to shell out?
Like sir Skynums budget is a big factor.
Are my speakers enough?

Small-medium scale system lang sana.
I plan to cater to events with 200-250max people lang. Mostly indoor with occasional semi-outdoor venues(meaning gazebo type venues)

If there are any additions/changes that I should do, suggestions are very much welcome.

Thanks

if you will be using your PA system for a person making a speech or message, you don't need a subwoofer. your full range speakers is enough. but if you will reinforce a prerecorded music or for live bands then you need a pair or two of subs para mas maganda ang sounds.. (can't imagine a party without baho! hehe..)
you also need a compressor to manage your audio signal and a limiter for component protection and gain control. a 15 band EQ is good for a starter but would be better using 30 band for better EQ'ing.

but for indoor, i think your speakers are enough.. just make sure your amps have enough power to drive your speakers.. usually it is twice the power of your speaker..

sir, regarding your subwoofer, i suggest that you change to either a 15 or 18 inch sub. your sub's woofer size should ideally be bigger than your front of house. due to budget constraints, you could try SPL, KEVLER and TASSO brands.

do u have stage monitors already? if none, i suggest you get at least two. spl ps12a is i think the cheapest powered speaker in the market but pwede na.

im not familiar with phonic max1500 and phonic mar6. what are they sir?

you also need to get another dual 15 EQ for your monitors.

i suggest that you also invest on a compressor/limiter.

for your front of house, i suggest that you add two more speakers to cater medium sized venues. better yet, the more, the better para di talaga bugbog speakers mo sir. or what you could do is get two spl ps12a also and use them for side or back fills ;)

I'll be using them also in parties so subs are a must(and being a drummer the sound of bass is essential..medyo biased...hehehe). My amp power is enough cause I'm running the two JBLs with an amplifier each-900wmax. Currently I'm using the onboard processors(which includes the compressor/limiter, but eventually I will acquire off board processors.

Thanks for your insights Sir.
