Sandwich's new single, Sugod

I listened to the song a while ago and I couldn't help but notice the similarities to Devo's song, "Whip It".

How awful..
Humanda ka?
Sugod?

I don't know, man..
I liked the band in their first and 2nd album.
On the third, they were OK.
But now... 'mediocrity' is the word.

Sana, pigain nila sarili nila dahil alam ko magaling naman talaga sila.
Hindi nga lang ngayon.

well, as we can fairly see, well established local acts like this band thinks they have the freedom to make crappy songs and still, they sell to the masses.... hey, you can make those songs in less than ten minutes!! they can do better than their new stuff... too lazy huh?!

i'd rather listen to foreign rock acts than wasting time with $h***y crammed up locally made songs.... sayang ang talent nila.... why not throw in some guitar solos here and there? also the song's lyrical content doesn't give any kick...you dont have to be a virtuoso to do that... the song's vibe is far better than being technically proficient in playing to make your song sound "complete"....

i also noticed that they always had these obvrused simple pentatonic riffs over and over.... waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz................. :?  :?  :?

May naalala tuloy akong napanood ko sa MYX nun, nakalimutan ko na kung anong portion("LiveMYX", "MYXLive", whatever)yung host pa nun e si Rico Blanco. Sandwich ang featured band nun and the way Rico introduced them was "Prepare to be annihilated, blah, blah...this is Sandwich!". "Annihilated"? Jesus, Sandwich isn't even THAT heavy to "annihilate" it's way out of a polvoron wrapper even if their lives depended on it.

You can look at it that way.
Local mainstream music has really lost its depth.

The reason why these groups write crappy music is that people LIKE listening & buying crappy music, which is really sad.

"sanlinggong pinag-ipunan.." part sounds like

"meron akong kilala sa hayskul.." of Titser's Enemy No. 1.

the song sounds.....wrong for some reason. i mean, i'm not exactly a fan of marc abaya's singing (especially for kjwan), but man he sounds better than raimund in that song. just my opinion. is mong officially a part of sandwich na?
still insane...

-nothing against you man, but its just not right to say or to judge people what's music for them... I may not like this band or those childish cueshe music but still Music is defined by the listener..

Again Music and Good Music is not all about riffs and heavy sound but its effect on the person listening it. The lack of content or depth of a song deosnt always mean that the band is slacking. Its just a footnote of their style.

But again lets not be Nega [gooey brown stuff] on our local bands, at least they're givin life to the industry that died because of piracy and mehn this guys dont just play for money(sometimes not at all) but they're just there sharing music

"meron akong kilala sa hayskul.." of Titser's Enemy No. 1.

i think they meant that part to sound that way.

i wasnt too impressed with the 1st single (notice how the guitar riff sounds like Greyhoundz' Puppet and Clown) simply because it lacked the "umph" two-trick pony and nahuhulog had. then again, maybe the band made a conscious effort to make a pang-masa, anthemic sort of song. 'sugod' aside, the album is worth listening to.

i guess, the thing with sandwich is to let go of any expectations you had from the band from their previous albums while listening to the new one.

my 2 cents on the topic.

yeah it's intentional. because the way i see it, raymund is trying to be the Pepe Smith of the new gen rock kids.

Good point.
