I am planning to buy a seven string electric guitar. Is it harder to play than a 6-string? What adjustments in technique and playing style need to be made to transition to a 7-string?

lol, its ok really, i tried the ibby one its fine but i dont like the emgs and especially the black color(am i racist?

) also i they ran out of the neck thru 8 strings so i have time to save for it

hey correct me if im wrong, doesnt AP stock 7 strings? they should have a string set for sale as well?

in my experience sa pangalawa kong gitara ( 7 string) ko nahirapan din ako sa una, pero ginusto kong mag-7 inaral ko na. parang sabi nga ni papi addicted na rin ako pero di ako lalagpas sa low F# thing na yan pang mamaw na hehehehe....basic thing lang @ TS IMHO siguro dapat alam mo din yung needs sa banda niyo. kung kelangan ba talaga ng 7 string or not....and be ready sa extra expense sa strings medyo mataas ng konti price ng set of strings ng 7 strings...

AP is always out of stock.

JB has lots of em, mostly Ernie Ball 10's.

yeah they do but not always, but maybe AS has in megamall

Last time I went to AP Main, they had quite a few D'Addario 7-string sets in stock. I got a 7-string set instead of a regular 6-string set because...

they had no stock.

So right now, my strat's using 7-string strings without the low B. Hehehe.

Definitely no. Ang kagandahan pa nyan sa rythm mo for example sa D lagyan mo nang over D (sa low b) super bigat ganda nang sound. And kung mag hheavy ka di mo na kelangan mag drop d, banat ka nang chords low b sarap hehehe. Lalo na kung sa mesa boogie mo gagamitin grabe lang. Mula nung nag 7 string ako nag focus ako sa mga rythm na pang 7 string sa solo halos di ko or di ko talaga nagagamit...

another thing to consider is if you can really hold the neck (wider) of a 7 string.

pwede mo rin mas mababa sa standard like whole step down...medyo floppy na nga lang yung tunog....or half-step below din

whole step tuning : ADGCFAD

half: Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb

last time nag-tanong ako sa delta qc kung meron silang 7 string set out of stock kaya nakabili ako sa JB nung una balak ko d'addario yun lang wala din silang stock. kaya nabili ko ernieball regular slinky 10s for 7 string....nakakatuwa yung low b .56 yung gauge taba ng tunog hehehehe....yung price nung EB strings 390php pero may discount pa ng konti forgot the price...medyo nakakalito nga lang 7 string sa mga chords lalo na kung di pa pamilyar sa mga shapes kahit ako nalilito pa ako, pero ok lang na-aaral na yan and practice.

at first, it can be...but its also a matter of getting used to a wider neck. It took around a couple of weeks for me to get used to my 7 string, which has a thicker neck also than the usual Ibby 7 strings.

I got my 7 string from AP but unfortunately they don't have stocks of 7string set. Got my supply from HK.

By the way, adjustment time in playing a seven string guitar isn't that hard especially if Ur a well seasoned guitarist.
