In terms of scales.... Correct me if im wrong they both use pentatonic most of the time and phrygian mode... If you guys have tips with other scales that I can try on please let me know....

IMO, they're two sides of the same coin. Someone whose name escapes my memory at the moment said that you can't have jazz without blues. Reverse it and it's pretty much the same thing.

For basic scale comparison, try Bebop (Ionian + #5) and Blues (penta + b5) scales.

Ika nga: "The essence of jazz is improvisation." Just listen to Parker, Coltrane or Wes.

Mas madaming chromatic notes dihamak ang jazz. As in. Pramis. At lahat ng modes, ginagamit. Modes of the major scale. Modes of the harmonic minor scale. Modes of the melodic minor scale. Symmetric Diminished scale. Whole tone scale.

If you can't play the blues, you don't have any business playing jazz.

And another thing is that blues played through the guitar is a way of mimicking blues vocals (as in "slurred" vocals/lyrics, which explains why you have the slide, the use of [intense] vibrato, among others) while jazz, well, I don't know much about jazz but I surmise it does something else.
