Nvidia Geforce GT 300 v.s. ATI 5870
« on: October 15, 2009, 05:04:09 PM »
Who will win the battle for Directx11 throne?

upcoming Nvidia Geforce GT 300 6gb Gddr5 512-bit
http://www.guru3d.com/news/nvidia-gt300s-fermi-architecture-unveiled/

The only directx11 videocard in the market today which made ATI king of 2009
http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-5000/hd-5870/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-5870-overview.aspx

6gb daw memory ng gt 300? is it another marketing scheme o magagamit ba talaga yun?
pag naglalaro ako ng crysis warhead eh di nga nagagamit yung 1gb memory ng videocard ko.
Im going for ATI now, badtrip lang mga computer sales shop dito sa fairview puro weak ati cards binebenta nila para sa masa kasi.

Just checked out a few benchies. I guess it's looking good. The HD5870 bests the GTX295 (a 2-core chip) in most games as shown here:

http://www.madshrimps.be/vbulletin/f22/amd-radeon-hd-5870-hd-5850-performance-chart-66465/

I think the upcoming GT300 will get the performance crown though. It's same as this generation's trend - one that's gonna see lots of top-model revisions.

4870 > 9800GTX (beginning of this generation)
GTX280 > 4870
4870X2 > GTX280
GTX295 > 4870X2 (end of this generation)

But I also think that ATi will win the "bang-for-buck" battle again. Nvidia MIGHT get the fastest single card, but ATi will have a very affordable mid-high range line. The HD4850 pricing at around 8k php made Nvidia panic last year, hence the price cuts and model revisions.

As for 6GB - it might be another marketing ploy. I still shudder when I see the 512MB Geforce 6200TC's. If anything, that big a memory will only cause more latency.

I agree. If you'd like to get powerful cards you can go to Gilmore for that or check out the nearest PCexpress branch, I think the nearest is in Ateneo.

6 GB is just a marketing gimik for now. 2GB is the logical successor of the 1GB cards. Unless of course the GPU would share the CPUs processing load. But I don't think it's need now. I'm still cheering for ATI right now, since i'm using an AMD setup for my humble PC.

anlaki ng price difference sa TPC.
ATI HD 5770 goes for 14k brand new while GTX 295 goes for 22k brand new samantalang mas malakas yung ati na dx11.

Antay antay tayo para bumaba presyo kahit 7k hehe
ala pa naman dx11 game na nilalabas

I agree. The hardware is running so fast but that the software side is struggling to keep up.
