Mixer Dead!

Its a behringer eurorack MX 602A. Conserving electricity (conserving money), I chose the stand fan over aircon, even if it was really hot inside my home studio. I went out to smoke. I left with the music turned on, when I came back, it was quiet. I looked at my mixer, and it was dead. No sound, no lights. Dead. It wouldnt turn on anymore. So I pulled everything sucked to it to investigate, first thing I noticed, it was hotter than usual, a a little painful to touch. Plus, another thing, the phantom power button was pressed. I never use phantom power since I have a USB condenser. Third suspect: ive been using it for 3 days straight. What might have caused its death? Overheat? Phantom Power turned on? or Overuse? This is my very first mixer problem and im almost clueless. Can the Phantom Power turned on for so long destroy the whole thing?

Behringer... that's a common story with their mixers.  That is why the people at AES ostracize the Behringer representatives.

First to go is the power supply. If a piece of equipment is dead, the psu is the prime suspect.

I have a 'better' mixer (yes the brand is 'better').

I had to reconstruct a power supply for it because the original supply went ka-boom.

Hindi naman.  Behringer has a place in the pro audio world because of their price points.  Very affordable.  And they have products that do the job well.  Incidentally, Music Group, the holding company headed by Uli Behringer, just bought the Midas-Klark Teknik group from Bosch.  Now they own one of the finest mixer consoles and other pro audio equipment, i. e., eq, analyzers, other outboard equipment the pro music industry rely on.

Behringer products user din ako, pero wala akong problema so far. I'm satisfied for what I paid for. Kahit naman high-end product nagkaka-diprensiya rin.

OT: just to add, behringer is just here in the neighborhood:

blown fuse maybe... or check the transformers thermal fuse... or maybe a cold solder on the power supply section... especially on the regulator...

Oh, at least they are getting a bit competitive now.  Sir Andrew Sevilla told me about the sham of Behringer in the old days.  Yeah but now they are everywhere.
