Pedal board for alt and old school rock
« on: February 02, 2010, 02:42:15 PM »
I'm starting my "project pedalboard" and I was wondering what good pedals could I put on my board?  :-)

Any suggestion? :-)

Thanks

What type of music do you play? That would narrow down your choices. Let us know.

EDIT:
Ok. Sorry I missed your title.
Anyway, unless you have an amp with a nice gain channel I would get an overdrive / distortion pedal first. Definitely a priority for any type of rock music. A delay would be useful too. Probably a wah and oh, another drive pedal, something voiced differently. You cant have too many of them. Hehe.

Good luck.

One more thing, depending on how old school you're talking, a Fuzz pedal would be killer too. Hehe.

for good ol fashioned rock and roll?

i suggest amp distortion. cheaper, easier on the wallet and gig load. plus, you get the TRUE sound of your guitar. you dont need all these pedals.

distortion / clean is the best

a distortion pedal/od/fuzz(basta kahit anong dirty/overdriven/high gain na channel) - delay(pang solos and clean)

mga modulation pedals naman(chorus, phaser, flanger etc...) parang self explanatory na kung gusto mo man may phase, chorus, flange etc... kahit mga compressor, tremolo, pitch shifter, octaver kanya-kanya nang taste e. same goes for wah wah pedals and whammy pedal.

so yun i think importante od and delay. on what kind of distortion depende na sayo un e kung ano trip mong tunog kasi kahit naman lahat ng classic rock players may kanya kanyang tone. parang si blackmore may pagka synth ung dating. si jimmy page raw na raw tapos si tony iommi naman medyo mas ma gain, pero lahat sila classic rock.

Actaully sir, I was thinking along the same line you were. I already got my distortion pedal, and I was planning on getting a Delay pedal and an overdrive for a lighter sound. :) Then a wah pedal, coz what pedal board would be complete without a wah pedal right? :)

doing the same board bro,,, sobrang dami magagandang tones sa classic rock,,,
a good solid od and dist/fuzz to start the board....
a reverb pedal kung wala yung amp mo....essential yun....
tapos delay chorus at wah,,,solb na....

simple but it rocks,,,,,
kaya nga lang naka depend pa din lahat sa amp mo.....
a good amp for me is worth more than a good p.board...
ako lang yun bro...peace! :-D

IMO,

Ibanez WD7 - simple wah with lots of features.

Boss OD3 - Drive, can go subtle to heavy OD.

EHX Deluxe Memory Man - Nice delay with simple Chorus or vibrato for not over the top modulations

pwede na siguro ito for simple alternative. siguro add lang distortion like a Boss DS2 or Digitech grunge.

a fuzz and delay definitely..
