STRESSED!!!

a couple of times nagyari na sakin yung pagod ang katawan at ang mindset ko (usually after work) tapos dumederecho ko sa practice/gigs. and even though ive had minutes of warm-up before our turn, kapag nasa actual playing na kapansin-pansin na out of order na yung mga palo ko, yun bang not the usual me na malinis ang performance. and i feel very noob whenever that happens, parang mas ok pa yung lasing habang tumutugtog kesa ang stressed out.

is there anyone around here na naranasan na tong kasong to? any advice that you can share is very much appreciated

nangyayari din sakin yan. siguro medyo dehydrated lang ang katawan natin pag ganun nangyayari. naeease naman yung pakiramdam ko pag umiinom ako ng sports/energy drink. hope this helps.  :-)

Yup, energy drink is a quick answer.

You could also try taking vitamins before you sleep.
Also, dapat pahinga ka konti bago tugtog. :)

yup nangyari na sakin yan... I was so stressed dahil nadelay yung project ko na hindi ko naman kasalanan at yung kups na boss ko eh nag mamarunong pa na ako pa sinisise which adds to the stress. kaya nung uwian na at JAM session na... nagliliparan yung sticks ko at matamlay yung palo ko amp...

solution ko dun eh beer beer beer!!! hehehe... effective naman... problema lang pag nasobrahan eh yun kantang "LOVe STORY" nagiging HEAVY METAL!! amp!!  :-D :evil:

Emotionally drained ako nun so kahit lahat ng vitamins pati combantrin inumin ko.. eh alang epek!!! beer on the other hand can set the "MOOD"!! hehehe..

Normal yan. It helps kapag mentally and physically prepared ka sa gigs / practice. What I do is I watch or listen to some of my favorite videos / songs that would inspire me to play drums before going to a gig /  practice.

Tama rin na may alcohol ka sa katawan  8-)

A live gig is different  from practice.... Practice, syempre perfect minsan... live is a total different experience... lalu na with a crowd, lightings. Sweat is one factor... syempre physically, nade-drain ka, you loose lotsa water inside you... every part of your body needs water, especially your brain... less water and oxygen means low function of your brain and coincidentally the body na rin...

much better to do the following:

before a gig or practice you could and should:

1. Increase fluid intake
2. Rest
3. Vitamin intake
4. Breathing exercises
5. Listen to music to pump up your juices.. to perk up
gig/practice time:

1. No to booze - di ka naman popogi kung iinom ka before the gig... much better kung let the talent flow, chicks dig drummers naman... <-----hahahahaha
2. energy drinks or water before/during the gig... di ka rin naman ma-jijingle during the gig... kasi you are sweating so much na...
3. Stretching is good... Set a mind set in your head.. Self confidence is a must...
4. no distractions .... di ka dapat galit sa mundo, yung naka-away mo recently, dedma muna... saka mo na ulit confront/.. or better yet, forget your prob nalang...
5. Listen to music parin.... headbang, sway, jump over a mosh pit.. you'll get the picture...
hope this helps on your continueing growth as a drummer and as a person.... It helps

ahaha, nalala mo pa pala yung incident na yun. good boy na po ako, haha

sa bagay, ndi ko ginagawa yang mga advice nyo bago ako tumugtog, kaya pala ganun ang naging performance ko. lagi kasi pagdating ko sa place sabak agad ako sa warm-up. at factor din yun professionalism ko kaya hindi na ako nagpapahintay dahil lang sa rest ko.

makakatulong talaga ang pagiging proffesional sa lahat ng bagay..... applied naman kasi yan sa lahat ng bagay sa mundo...

Mayuri - Meron talagang time na minsan sa gig, sabak agad... pero there are certain ways din na kahit sabak agad eh, kahit papano, mentally and physically prepared ka na... In my case kasi, parang ritual ng basketball listen to a good music, to get your engine roaring.. para kahit anu pang distraction on stage or in the audience... kick @$$ drummer tyo... smoke machine - I like that sa stage.. spot light lang talaga ang hate ko... ko tong video namin... may instance na humihinto ako dahil naiilang ako sa spot light.

thanks... I dunno... sa audio people yan eh... nung time na kasi yan, di pa ako nakakabili ng sariling kit ko ulit... last kit ko sa way back in the 90's Fernando Deluxe lang.

naranasan ko na yan mehn. pero mindset lang ata yan pag dating sa practice at gigs. ako pag oras na magdrums, nawawala yung stress ko, di ko na naiisip kung ano nangyayari iba, kung baga living the moment lang. But were all human, kung di matanggal ang kung ano man iniisip mo, what you can do is release the negative energy through the drums. kailangan inspired tumugtog kahit pagod na pagod na. :)

pag mahaba araw ko tapos may jam at/o gig (minsan kasi may jam ako tapos gig pa!) usually i just relax. kain ng konti para may energy, tambay sa tahimik na lugar, pag malapit na tumugtog stretching at warm-up..

Isa pang advice: wag ka muna manood ng mga naunang set ng performers, or at least wag ka tumapat sa area na maingay. Nakaka-fatigue din kasi ang sobrang ingay. Lalo na kung medyo metal ang mga mauuna sa inyo, nakaka-stress din sa pakikinig ng ganung tugtog. Tumataas ng pulse rate mo habang nakikinig ng malakas at mabilis na music, for sure.

Base sa mga kilala kong madalas manood ng gig, meron silang mga banda na tinuturing na "nakakapagod tingnan" dahil sa sobrang intense ng set, pati yung nanonood nararamdaman yung pagod nung mga performer. Hehe.

naranasan ko rin to galing ako trabaho 12hours sa office then derecho gig, tipong sa isip mo kaya mo pa pag dating ng set hehe hindi na makapalo ng maayos parang bagsak na bagsak na katawan mo nakkahiya

tol kakasubok ko lang nito nung isang araw nag gig kami tapos pagod na pagod the next day masakit katawan ko tapos nagdrums ako hindi ko mahuli yung beats at nanginginig yung paa ko di ako maka double peds ng husto hehe wag mo lang pilitin magdrums pag bad moods kase bad beats rin lalabas

to add up to the pressure kapag kayo ang first performers (especially kapag battle of the bands). naranasan ko to nung nagsisimula pa lang ako magdrums, stressed na, kabado pa. hay nakow good luck!

tnx sa info sir gep...ang akala ko noon mas nakakawala ng kaba kapag pinapanood muna yung mga mauunang performers
