question regarding bigsby/old-school vibrato setup
« on: December 03, 2015, 11:08:41 AM »
just got myself an Ibanez full hollow electric with an old-school/bigsby-style vibrato. i restringed it (all strings off, not one-by-one) and couldn't get the action of the arm to go down as low as it used to. I tried to bring it down by loosening all my strings, then tuning them up while clamping the arm down (which was very difficult btw), but, still, the arm action is still not the same before i changed strings. The guitar plays ok now, pero medyo na-OOC ako ...my question is, is there an easier way retaining the spring tension when restringing a bigsby equipped guitar?

Nature of the beast lang yan, I think. It might have something to do with your string brand and gauge.
