NEED TIPS ON RUNNING A PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO BUSINESS...
« on: May 31, 2010, 07:27:09 PM »

im planning to start small...a laptop,a couple of printers,a 1 tb external HD,and a DSLR,sa ngayon po canon 1000d palang cam ko but im planning to upgrade later on kung maging successful, ive already gathered some experience in shooting for graduations weddings and baby christening....i also had experience in working in a studio abroad....im doing this as an investment to secure myself in the future hopefully....as of now now im just saving for a place to fix up....
ang balak ko po is the usual, photo printing in different sizes..photography for ids..portrait,graduation packages...aside from that im planning to design tarpaulins, although i dont have the money to buy a machine yet...siguro paprint muna sa iba.....and desktop publishing like invitations, which i think will be my edge since graduate ako ng fine arts
is it ok to start with already alot to offer?
how to maintain regular customers...the dos and donts...
and how many workers are good to start with?

im planning to setup this august maybe, with the help of some funding from my mother also... utak lang muna ang puhunan hehe

those with a similar idea can also join the topic

Same wattage for all studio strobes. The higher the watts the better .
Also consider the space. If you can shoot a whole body portrait using an 85mm the better.
You also need a heavy duty boom stand for top lighting (Comes in handy for hair lights & rim lighting & for food photography).
Reflectors, gobos & light modifiers are very very important.
Good luck.

Oh, dont forget the light meter. :-D

Try to freelance nalang muna. In buying strobes think about kung san mo gagamitin, either indoor ba or outdoor. Since if indoor lang naman you don't need a really high wattage strobe naman. If you're planning to use it outdoors then go for higher wattage strobes (alienbees, visatec or if may pera profoto). Pero if you're shooting weddings naman all you need are your small flash guns either mounted or off cam. If school id lang naman, kaya lang naman ng isang frontal light yan basta shadowless ung mukha pero pwede mo rin naman lagyan ng hairlight if you want na mas ok ung output. Main point: start small. Don't invest too much muna.

so maglalagay ka rin ng 3 or 5 minutes RUSH ID sa karatula mo? then you have to practice dealing with the rush one... learn to edit with Keyboard shortcuts....

make your templates... eaither you edit and print with photoshop, or edit with photoshop first then, pagemaker...

shortcuts like: LEVELS: ctrl L; CURVES: ctrl M; Color Balance ctrl B are the most common... then, ctrl C, Alt Tab, Alt E-S-D, ek ek ek ek... you can print your outputs in 2 to 3 minutes...

If you have flash triggers, make shure your flash ( built in ) fires only ONCE... avoid shadoows, place flashes at your sides, and one at the back of the subject, para tanggal ang shadows...

Point and shoot cameras are the best for this setup... para di ka mamomroblema sa focusing hehehe lalu na kung medyo malabo ang mata mo na tulad ko... my guy at the shop is using a polaroid 5MP for the IDs...
