GFS Crunchy Rails Upgrade Project
« on: August 11, 2010, 02:12:22 PM »
I don't know if this is worth anything.. Just think of it as a review nalang of GFS Crunchy Rails..:-D

Anyways, first change of pickups ko to... Am changing the pickups of my Epiphone G400.. Here it is, stock...

Tapos eto naman yung GFS Crunchy Rails ko, thanks to BossingBoss for the shipping help..:-D

Anyways, open ko yung box, it has screws for the mounting of the pickup.. May pickup ring na rin.. Tapos it has a guide:

Whatever, not much help siya sakin, kasi yung G400 ko, iba yung wiring niya... Had to google pa so I can understand..T_T
Anyways, ang nagets ko lang sa "famous fully illustrated wiring guide" nila is that green is positive, black and silver is ground, red and white is for the coil switch.. yeah, hindi ko kelangan pa yung white and red, will have to invest sa pot na push pull..T_T

Okei, 2 posts lang ako sa thread na to, patangal muna ako ng strings kay utol... :-D

Ayan strings ko, will save them for later, reuse mode ako.. wala akong pambili ng strings, sorry..

Ayan, neck pickup na una kong kinabit, para sana icompare ko sa bridge ng stock na epiphone..
All I can say is louder ang volume ng neck na crunchy rails sa bridge na epiphone, for me it's a big thing, i really need the output..T_T
What's more, for my not so experienced ears, I can say fuller ang tunog ng Crunchy Rails neck sa stock epiphone neck pup... At this point exited na talaga ako sa Bridge na Rails..:-D

After testing, kinabit ko na din tong Crunchy Rails Bridge. Napaso pa ako sa pagsolder ng Bridge.. All I can offer is yung final gut shot ng work ko... Hay.... Super messy..T_T Anyways, yung wires ng GFS pups na to and tataba, nahirapan talaga akong ishoot sa hole ng G400 ko..T_T

That's it, eto na final pic:

Yung bridge pup, mas louder, pero parang mas full padin ang neck sa tenga ko... Yung bridge, parang kulang ng mids compared sa neck, but I like it kasi mas madaling magharmonics..:-D This is a plus for me...

I enjoyed yung pagkabit ko ng GFS Crunchy Rails Bridge and Neck... Problem is sometimes I think baligtad ang pagkakakabit ko sa neck and bridge..T_T Anyways, bubuklatin ko nalang mamaya para icheck, minsan kasi mas malakas yung neck sa bridge, isip ko baka pot lng problem..T_T Ayun, that's it, gusto ko lang ishare first change ko ng pickups...

kung mas malakas yung neck kesa bridge, try mo to..

1. either itaas mo yung bridge via the pickup mounting screws or, babaan mo yung neck via the pickup mounting screws..
gusto ko sa akin, balanced.. para walang volume drop or increase pag nagpapalit ako ng pickup positions.. so i try to make it an SOP na pantay ang volume ng bridge at neck.. the only way to cure that is by adjusting the pickup height..  :-)

cool upgrade bro.. reviews naman jan nung pickups.. clips and demos would also be great! ok yan for high output enthusiasts..  :-)
