Gibraltar Club conversion kit.
« on: August 23, 2010, 03:08:42 PM »
Hello fellow drummers.

I own a 12.7mm Gibraltar Club Conversion kit. It works will with my kit that has triple flange hoops.

I was just wondering if the riser works well with die-cast hoops, maybe somebody here tried it out.

I'm thinking of building a club kit with high end shells (most likely with die-cast hoops) and wonders if the clamp holds well on those hoops.

I'd really appreciate some feedback on this.  :-)

"I had the notion to do what you're proposing and ended up buying the Gibraltar club conversion kit as rmandelbaum suggested. I found that the riser attachment does not work well with diecast hoops so be warned that your drum will slip out of the clamp."

Thanks! Actually I've read that before and I was convinced not to buy drums with die-cast hoops or rather buy a new riser.

I just got confused when I saw the drumsmith pictorial for NAMM 2007. Gibraltar showcased the conversion kit with diecast hoops. So I thought maybe somebody here tried it out.

Maybe it's safe if I just buy a different riser.  :-)
