PS3. DVD Compatible?

I just tried watching a DVD (DVD-9, HD, the pirated ones with the blu-ray cover), "whatever works" using my PS3 Slim. I would like to know if anyone tried to watch their DVDs using PS3 as well? Would it damage the PS3, in anyway, if I continue to do it?

i've been using my PS3 to play DVDs and Blu-ray kuno (aka. DVD 9  ). pero i make it a point na hindi yung mga low quality, super compressed, multiple movies in one na DVD ang ginagamit ko. so far ok naman. i can say na High Definition talaga yung output ng PS3. ingat lang din ako lagi sa paggamit.

tagal na. mga 2 years na. since nandito sa bahay yung unit yun yung ginagamit ko minsan para manood ng DVD. mas malinaw kasi saka mas madaling gamitin yunf ps3 for dvd playback. original and the usual sidewalk DVD ang ginagamit ko. kapag di ako sigurado sa quality ng DVD di ko ginagamit sa PS3. so far no problem naman sa console.
