Value for Money Portable recorder?

Would you have any idea of what's the best value for money portable recorder sa market?

I would like to have a venue to record my ideas and music on the fly.

A zoom or a tascam or any alternative perhaps?

probably the best out there is the tascam dr100. Not cheap though.

Some of the sfx for RPG Metanoia was recorded with a Zoom H4.

I have a zoom H4n and for a on the go writer it really is the best. It has some decent guitar effects too.

Thanks! The music really is epic and it's a wonder that we didn't get Best Score (well, not really a wonder since I've always been skeptical of these "so-called awards that don't really mean anything nowadays").
