Soundproofing question
« on: April 05, 2012, 03:29:52 PM »

Parang ganito

Tela > manipis na foam > Kahoy plywood < manipis na foam < tela

Tingin nyo mkakasoundproof to?

Yung kulay violet/blue na yan, Yang yung pinaka-tela, magaspang na tela yan tapos loob nyan foam na manipis din then plywood or kung ano mang kahoy tawag jan hehehe

This would not work for sound proofing.  Sound proofing and sound treatment is totally different.

it would work...but it would've been better if you used rockwool instead of foam...

then this is useless even as an absorber. anything less than 4" to 6" thick foam is just a waste of material.

Too thin to absorb frequencies.  This one absorbs "ultra" high frequencies which you do not need in recording or any kind of sound work.  Sorry, you spent on something that is not useable for your purpose.

syempre, compared to egg crates, it is an improvement, but as mikep said, it is too thin to absorb frequencies. isa pa, since it has  wood backing, it is also acting as a reflector back into the studio. you may have flutter echo problems as a result. don't say we didn't advise you.

Your bintana is the weak link for sound to transfer to another area and since you covered it with your office partition, definitely there will be a reduction of sound being transmitted.  But it does not mean that sound has totally been blocked.  It is like adding a piece of 3/4" plywood into your bintana.  Your divider and a 3/4" plywood would have the same transmission loss or TL.  As an absorber, like I mentioned previously, it does not help out in tempering the frequency response of your room.
