My woofer died but the tweeter survived???

I have a SoundTech CX4C. While on an acoustic gig the other night suddenly I lost sound on the woofer. The tweeter is still working. It was connected to a powered mixer. Only a keyboard and my guitar is plugged in.

Can someone here explain why this happened?? Im really clueless about these things.

Here are some more details:

Powered Mixer - Yamaha my802D ( I think this is not an original one )
    Speaker output is 4ohms. I did a thread a while back asking if it is safe to use a 8ohm speaker on it. A lot of forumites here agreed that it is ok.


Speaker - Soundtech CX4C (passive)
    This was bought i think late 90's. Rated 8ohms.



Speaker cable - D.I.Y.

over gain that is the reason why woofer burn or busted, and your tweeter still working is bcos inside the box they have passive crossover and some HF protection, base on me

check niyo po sa loob ng baffles kung may amoy sunog o baka may fuse sa loob na bumigay and also loose connections as well...

Nangyari na samin to pero sa Sound System namin sa bahay...

turns out to be may loose connection lang.. Ni - Re-Solder ko lang. Oks.

Check mo yung Loob baka same lang din tayo ng problem!
