Loose Nut
« on: February 27, 2013, 08:14:47 AM »
***Mods, padelete na lang sir if may ganito ng thread. I've been inactive @PM for almost a year kasi.***

Guys, I have a problem with my Nut (for input jack). The nut becomes loose at some point while tightening it. It's really annoying. I already replaced the nut thinking that it could be the problem but nothing happens. I also tried putting/removing the washer but it doesn't solve the dilemma either. I Googled this thing out but the suggestions are quite weird like putting lock tite or clear nail polish on it.  :?

Any suggestions sir/ma'am? Thanks.

Putting loctite isn't exactly weird because keeping screws tight in machines that can vibrate the screws loose was its original purpose.  The bond is also easy to pop loose when disassembly is required.

Replace the input jack if you can.  Seems like a case of thread loss.

Jack already has a loose thread. Replacing the nut won't help. You need to get a new input jack.

either replace the nut or replace the whole jack itself. Why spend for locktite if the cost is nearly the same or even more as buying a new jack

You can also try wrapping the treads with teflon tape if you wanna go for the punk look  :-D

Thanks for all the inputs.

I'll try the teflon tape later or the lock tite (meron naman sa bahay).
When all else fails, I'll replace my input jack.

(Medyo nagtitipid kasi ako now. Dami ko expenses  this year )

By the way magkano po ba mga input jacks now? (From fair quality to best quality price range)

Thanks again.
