Multipair cable shielding recommendation for audio use
« on: November 29, 2013, 05:34:24 AM »
Hi Pros,

Im planning to get a multipair cable (aka snake cable) but im torn between whether if I should get a foil shield or a spiral shield.
Application is mostly low frequency (audio signals), cable will be flex often, length is 4-5 meters, and will be used on stage/studio.

My options are:

1. http://sommercable.com//2__produkte/2__030_meterware/2__100_0101_08.html
2. http://sommercable.com/2__produkte/2__030_meterware/2__100_0451_08.html

Cheers

There is no tone. There is only music.

There were articles at prosoundweb.com that discussed the pros and cons of different kinds of shielding. If flexing is a concern, spiral or braid types are suggested. Foil have better RFI and EMI protection for permanent installs daw po.

make sound matter
