as of now i'm into the music of muse especially starlight. sana may opm band na ganun. i'm not saying another opm rip-off type. yung ganung style lang. ahh. kulang na lang kami ng drummer. sino pwede?! kahit anong music o genre ang mabuo as long as maganda pakinggan. saka isang gitarista na rin.

In strictest terms, indie is a state of the band, not the music - independent, no major lebel backing, or no record company backing at all. Not exactly a genre.

the word "indie" has several meanings

based on wikipedia...

Yun nga eh, that's why it's called indie music. The artist has control over his song, So nevertheless, his music maybe in the same genre, but he sounds unique because he controlled the output of his recording....

indie.. diba independent bands yun? hindi genre.. just like under ground.. ang indie ay pwedeng

Nope, it's a genre. check the wikipedia. But basically, indie means being unsigned from a label, hence the rootword independent. It becomes a genre because indie bands tend to sound different from labeled bands. But, indie also has sub genre's. research niyo na lang, tamad ako ngayon eh, maulan

Who decides what can be considered a genre?
Dati 'alternative' daw yung tugutgan sa Dredd-- Alternative to what??? So you lump Joey Ayala in the same genre as Nirvana?
Tapos recently 'acoustic' yung uso sa bars-- tinanggal na ang amp pwede na ba ako dito? from Nyoy Volante to The Philidelphia Philharmonic to the Violent Femmes???
Ngayon 'emo' -- from Rites of Spring to Chemical Romance. may nagsabing emo daw yung Maroon 5! mwahahaha!! Don't take yourself so seriously. Do some research. who really coined the term "emo"? Emo is a term created by record companies to SELL RECORDS.
Of course cool ka kapag 'indie' -- I don't care about wikipedia, indie is not a music genre!!! How can you lump together Belle & Sebastian with Flatbush or something your cousin recorded in his home studio last week??? Then does that mean the moment the artist gets signed up, hindi mo na sila gusto?

So back to the poll. If I choose rock, di na ba ako pwede sa reggae??!
Who decides which music belongs to what genre? People love to label. Others may label you but don't label yourself. That is like creating your own cage. Kung metal yung banda mo, you can still listen to jazz and go into rap or reggae later on.
