Bad or Terrible Sounding Guitars

No. This is not another thread discussion about HIYAW. This is not a thread bashing a particular brand.

Eto yung mga na experience nyo na kahit anong upgrade at setup, ayaw parin tumunog ng maayos ang gitarang nabili nyo.

I used to have a Korean made Ibanez RG na nabili ko ng brand new sa Audiophile SM Megamall a couple of years back. It was on sale kaya binili ko, impulse buy. I had the pickups changed and the neck leveled and setup by a local luthier. Sa recordings ayos naman ang tunog nya kaso parang lumalaban yung gitara kapag ginagamit, kulang yung tunog. I also used to have an Ibanez S also made in Korea, and had used a couple of Korean made RGs na OK pero iba talaga etong specific na RG na ito. Sa tingin ko nasa kahoy or bridge yung problema. I spend many hours trying to figure out kung anong pwede kong gawin para umayos sya. Eventually binenta ko din yung gitara.

Ano ba experience nyo? It could be any brand or make.

I had a Jackson Kelly,  made in Indonesia (baka dahil indonesia lang). i bought it brand new at JB Music 2012 for 21k together with an Orange 20watts amp. Di ko natripan tunog niya, i even upgraded the pickups to EMG, ayun wala pa din, then after ilang months nagpalit ako ng Amp na mas mataas yung watts (Stagg 60GAR lang naman, pero mas maganda sya sa orange crush 20). Ganun pa din, ended up trading the guitar.

I had a similar experience with a MIK Ibanez RG. It feels very good but the tone wasn't there.. not hating on Ibbys, maybe its just that one guitar.  :-D

i had a 62 Fender Strat, MIJ. no issues sa pagkapulido, as in swak lahat, lapat lahat. pero my Squier Classic Vibe tele is way way better sounding than the strat, considering na nabili ko x2 ng presyo nung squier. binenta ko rin. di na ako nagaksaya ng oras mag upgrade.

my very first Gibson Les Paul, a 2004 Standard.
bought it brand new and it looks very nice with its flame top but its a dog tonewise. did countless mods( pickups, electronics, hardware) to no avail. woolly/muddy neck pickup and overly bright on the bridge. it doesnt cut thru the mix very well. something is missing on the mids. sold it right away after getting my R8

Had a PRS SE Soapbar 2. Liked the looks, how the wide & fat neck felt. I looked good with it too! Made for each other? Nah. Muddy neck, muddier bridge, lack of sustain. Changed the stock pups to Seymour Duncan P90s but ganun pa din. Sold it.

I had an acoustic, never really got to bond with the sound it produced...I sold it recently and the guy who bought it (a really active musician and song writer) loved the f*ck out of it...

I guess...nasa tao yung pagappreciate...a lemon to you may mean a holy grail to another.. unless talagang sablay na sablay..
