phantom power
« on: December 18, 2006, 04:05:26 PM »
hi, im just wondering if applying phantom power to dynamic mics would destroy them? lets say i have a mixer with 4 inputs, and only one of them has a condenser in it, the rest are dynamics, then i turned on the phantom power of the mixer to power up the condenser. will my dynamic mics be affected in a way?

Normally, most of the recently wired dynamics will not be affected, but vintage mics such as RCA ribbons can be damaged. The positive potential of phantom power is supplied to pins 2 and 3 while the negative is wired to pin 1/ground. If you have a dynamic that was converted with one side to ground, you could damage the mic, or worse, fry your mixer's phantom power circuit.

A LOT! Balanced circuits/cables have better noise rejection and can be used over longer lengths, besides, practically all pro mics use balanced XLR connections and cables.

Yes ... Alesis Multimix Firewire Mixer has a Phantom Power like the usual mixers in the market. If your are planning to get a mixer like mine ill help you out na lang instead of buying in the local market coz it cost 33k in 5Th Ave and Avesco. pm me na lang sa messenger ko its in my profile.

its only $192 sa California kung san resided ang friend ko. Pero she got mine for $163 only dahil Thanksgiving Sale nuon. $299 is the Internet Price. Re: xenyx mixers naman... it still uses USB 1.1 kaya taas ng latency dun sa DAW ng friend ko na nasa Pasig.

30k is way to much for me kaya i had my gears purchased overseas. ang laki ng difference kasi $163 is less than 10k tapos 33k ang benta nila dito grabe!! hehehe

re: kung Sulit... Sulit yung mixer itself lalo na yung 16FW ko. We just finished recording a 14 tracks Drumtrack this afternoon at ang sarap hehehe
