Tinignan ko sahig namin bigla kong naisip yung vinyl tiles parang pwede.  Daming colors na available, pwede pang bilhin nang paisa-isa.

may nabasa ako dito somewhere.. last year pa ata yun.. pero yung ginamit nyang pickguard ay illustration board yata.. or some kind of cardboard.. tapos yung black na side nun yung ginawa nyang harap.. tapos pina laminate nya para maging shiny. hehe. ok naman daw kinalabasan. nag cut out lang daw sya. hope this helps :)

tanong ko lang, why is it that arie eh naningil ng 2.5k for a 4 ply tortoishell pickguard for a SSS Strat, nag inquire kc ako sa kanya at yung isa kong friend na regular customer niya same answer we got ? ganun ba talaga kahirap maghanap ng material na yan dito sa pinas ? mahal ba talaga yung material na yun na ginagamit talaga sa pickguard ? kc yung orig na fender just costs 2.3k sa yupangco out of stock nga lang and yung all parts na 3ply black pickguard 900 lang yata sa audiostudio? yung allparts naman na tortoishell sa music123 eh $29 lang ?

What makes the pickguard material expensive is the fact that it is not solid material but laminates of contrasting colors.  What the pickguard manufacturers do is to cut the edges at a 45-degree angle to the pickguard top.  What this does is it (the 45-degree cut) shows off the different layers of material.  If you look up the WDMusic pickguard site, http://www.wdmusic.com/pickguards_225_ct.htm, you can see that as the number of layers increase, tumataas ang presyo niya.  I had to make home-made rear cavity covers for my Fender and Warmoth basses since I moded them for 18V active electronics and I opted to mount the flip-top battery holders in the cover rather than route a hole in the wood body (kept the originals if I plan to sell the axes).  I thus had leftover material to make a pickguard for my 335 clone (yung mahaba na umaabot sa bridge, not like the Les Paul ones).  What I used was acrylic sheet (yung retaso) which I got for free from those shops that make plastic signs.  I couldn't find black so I used an old trick from my RC modeling days - sand the underside of the pickguard so the black paint would stick well, paint the sanded surface and the top side would look an even glossy color.

Siyempre, the closer it is to the original, lalong mas mahal.  Tama rin yung sinabi mo - hindi standard ang quality ng mga iyan.  I saw something under the Mighty Mite brand.  Mura nga, pero pekeng-peke ang dating.

diyan kc sa guitarfetish naka bili na ako ng 3 ply na black white black pang tele yun, kinabit dun sa tele na nakay tony2tone na tokai tele ngayon.. ayos naman siya as in can compare to an original malinis gawa hindi mukhang gawa ng mga gumagawa ng mga SARAO sign pati yung material pareho nung sa fender strat ko.. i bought some pick ups too diyan sa fetish ok naman siya sulit na sulit...  i've heard about that mighty might too but never saw it actual... sagwa nga daw.. actually ang plan ko nga pag hindi pa talaga ako nakahanap locally na mag ma match lang sa magiging gastos ko sa pag order diyan sa fetish eh i'd go w/ guitarfetish na lang aabutin lang ako ng 1.3k yun nga lang the risk of shipping papunta dito  :-D
