stage custom or export?
« on: April 22, 2007, 09:11:35 PM »
hello pinoy drummers! this would be my first post. great forum by the way! tanong ko lang my tito is selling his drum set and he is selling his 90s model yamaha stage custom. i play with a pearl export 90s model. and he is willing to swap my export to his yamaha if i want.. now my question is would it be an upgrade, even a slight upgrade from export to stage custom?
for those who have tried both which one do you prefer? salamat po more power to this site and forum!
ps: i like the stage custom snare compared to my stainless pearl export snare.

Ya, I thinks hindi lang sya makikipag trade... although hindi ako talaga knowledgeable, but with all the review and comments from different forums, marami talga nagsasabi na mganda sound ng Yamaha, kahit na ung stage custom lang. Dont mistaken my comment na "lang" its not say na mahina sya, its just that nasa entry level sya ng Yamaha. Although, Export is an entry level as well.

anymore inputs mga sir? kasi mukang napapaisip na ko sa swap hehe reply lang kayo ng "go" kung tutuluyan ko na ba to hehehe. ive tried playing with the stage custom and it sounds ok but it had crappy heads so maybe i didnt get to hear the real potential of those drums. tulong naman mga pare koy export or stage custom... ano ba tlaga ang mas ok? hehe salamat sa mga reply!

Then, there are I think, about 4 more series after it. Assumption ko lng un, coz as mentioned before hand Iam not that knowledgeable about drums.

Mapple ba sya? It was only now that I realized that, since I thought it was mahogany and birch combined.

At least now I know. Thanks.

By the way, dont swap yet! Check mo ung hardware, rust, durable pa ba. Things like that. Baka kasi pasira na hardware. Although Yamaha and Pearl, again as I believe, are 2 of the best when it comes to hardware durability. Nevertheless, do check thoroughly. Good luck!

same level lang yan kung sa pricing at target market ang usapan. phil. mahogany ang mga stage customs and i believe the exports from that era are also phil. mahogany. siguro makipagswap ka na lang kung mas maganda yung condition nung yamaha  :-D

how they sound and which one you like is up to you

Yamaha Stage Custom is a considered a mid-end model and Export Series is on the low level.... 8-)

The Stage Custom shells are actually made out of 3 woods... Falkata, Philippine Mahogany, and Birch. To my experience, they sound better when aged.

If I were you, I'd go for the trade... Just change the heads to pinstripes, tune them properly, and you're good to go!
