let's not blame the gear for failing coz most of the time we are to blame for not doing our homework

Well-said, kapatid na peeves!  Lalo na yung last line mo.

I always do that before a gig.  I inspect the house kit first.  Kapag olats talaga yung gamit, I take it as a challenge.  Though I'm fortunate that I have my own gear which I can bring on gigs, nakaka-apekto pa rin kapag in poor condition ang house kit.  Kaya diskarte ang katapat nyan.

I've witnessed a lot of great drummers (mga senyor) who played on a dilapidated drum setup.  Sound-wise and physically, mahirap talaga tumugtog at mag-express sa mga napabayaang drumkit.  But still, they were able to deliver.  They were still able to create dignified, convincing music.

Like what I said, nasa gumagamit din yan.  8-)

Trouble-shooting tip?  Always be prepared for the worse.  Magbaon palagi ng "survival kit" - drumkeys, allen wrenches, screwdrivers, extra felts, extra cymbal sleeves, spare parts, duct tape (when worse comes to worst), etc etc...
