Instead of a Pentium D, why not spring for an Athlon 64 X2? They're dirt cheap nowadays, plus Socket AM2's gonna stay around for a while anyway, so you can upgrade to whatever AMD brings out next. The A64 X2 is available in 3600+, 3800+, 4200+, 4400+, and 4600+, and Intel's best Pentium D (The PD 945) is still slower than the 4200+.
Pentium-M's? These are Notebook/Laptop chips. They're like the Core 2's. Gigahertz is not equal to speed. Imagine, their 1.6MHz is comparable in performance to an old 3.0GHz P4! More efficient architecture, I'd say. Less power consumption too. Sobrang sikat nito sa enthusiasts that they released a CPU socket adapter for Socket 478 motherboards to accept Pentium-M chips.
