Interesting.  How did you get to the conclusion that your generation isn't ok with the blues?

go and watch the Blueskrieg gigs, pag meron. Plug and Dahon would fit in your generation.

then hang out with microchimp and the older folks...

KWS, Jonny Lang and Derek Trucks didn't fit in with their generation either, but their talents brought them a wider audience.

Blues lovers are a select group. Not everyone in my generation loves the blues either. I just try to hang out with those who do, young and old... not that I've gotten a blues band goin either... :-P

Kami ni nathan di din naman dito nag-umpisa pero na-transform na din kami into bluesheads because we consciously allowed ourselves to be open to the music.  Immerse yourself in it.  And...read this with an open mind...we're not talking john mayer doing his take on SRV; or even SRV doing his take on the 3 Kings.  Go deeper.  Dahil sa internet madali na makinig ng mga Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and T-Bone Walker songs.  I think they'd be a good place to start since medyo traceable na to modern blues yung styles nila.  But this is just touching the surface kasi madami pang nauna.

If you find something you really love in the old blues songs, regardless of the crappy guitars and less than stellar recordings, go start that band.

And the best way is seldom the easiest.  :-)

PS:  Blues band tayo, veggie!!!  :-D

i felt the same way noong nagsisimula ako mag blues noon.

i thought i was alone, but it turned out na i just had to seek them out.

found myself in the middle of a pinoy blues explosion....mid 90s. where old and new players flourished.

kakoi, delta slim, joey puyat, cowboy santos, jun lopito, butch roxas, blue buddha.mabanta bros, jim ayson, bobby alvarez, coco, demond fortuno(RIP), eggpie, pepe smith, wally gonzales. at madami pa!

just seek them out. attend a lot of jams. dont get too intoxicated...just play your heart out.

there's no easy way brother!
guitarist telling the drummer what the intro to laklak was. caught on video.at binilangan pa ang drummer 1-2...1-2-3..lol

The best way to start a band is to join one! Hehehe... Don't be shy to approach your blues brothers and jam with them. They will surely welcome you with open arms; remember, youre like a long lost brother to them. They can then refer you to others who might also want to start a band.

And then there's that famous advice from the masters... practice, practice, and then practice some more!

Try to find a bassist and a drummer you can bully into playing blues... yung nasa formative years pa

Seriously, crucial diyan eh finding bandmates who are into it like you are.  In the meantime, you'll have to make do with playing solo and jamming with already formed bands

ilang taon ka na bro? ako kasi i was surrounded by blues people kaya i grew up loving the blues..

well tama sila, jamming lang! kahit na di trip ng mga ka-age bracket natin, mapipilitan yang makijam when you strum a blues progression in between songs (like in practice). the next thing you know, sobrang haba na pala ng nagawa niyong jam at masasayangan kayo na di niyo narecord.. hehe..

my few cents on the matter..

Plenty of players, but I would say the hardest task is finding a singer with the right attitude.
