best guitar and amp combination
« on: July 10, 2007, 08:54:09 AM »
guys so much have been said on the les paul-marshall combination, strat into a fender deluxe, AC30,Matchless,Bogner,ibanez/ESP into dual and triple rectifiers, and an endless choice of guitar and amp pairing.

para sa inyo guys, whats the best pair that you think will satistfy your tone obsession? doesnt need to be one that your actually using ryt now, ok lng kahit ung narinig nyo lng...i think it would be essential also to include the genre or music you play to better understand your tonal preferences.

for me its gotta be a les paul and a JCM800 for hard rock

I dont know what the best is... I guess it depends on the situation you're in...
here are some combinations that I prefer and have used:
For POP club gigs I really like my strat with a Roland JC-77 combo or Fender "TWIN AMP" (not the twin reverb) with the silver grill cloth black face with silver and black skirt knobs and not the red ones...
For Jazz, Blues and Neo Soul club gigs I love My strat with the Fender 64 Vibroverb or the Marshall JCM 2000 DSL or TSL.
I also like a Gibson 335 with A Fender Twin Reverb or a Tele with a Music Man amp...
For Rock Gigs I like My strat with a humbucker pickup or a lespaul with a Marshall Plexi. For High Gain Stuff I like Mesa Boogie Stiletto or Marshall JCM 2000 DSL...

There is no best. They all sound different and have different uses.. but for generic sounds:

Les Paul - Marshal (rock)
Fender - Fender (surf)
PRS - Boogie (modern rock / metal)

^- Those are the cliche's but youll find that anything can work with anything.

+1   but there's a formula... Know the formula and use it to get the sound that fits the music best.

parang mali ata ang cliche's mo pre...

usually Gibson guitar + Fender amp = jazz tone

Fender Strat or Gibson Lespaul + Marshall amp = Rock tone

Fender Tele + Fender amp = country tone
