Fusion or Standard Setup
« on: June 29, 2007, 12:02:38 PM »
If you will be given the chance to buy a brand new 5-piece drumkit that comes with your choice of 12,13,16 toms (standard) or 10,12,14 toms (fusion) setup; and let's also say you want to play all types of genre, which would you choose and why?

*I'm not sure if may topic na na ganito before so.. Mod, pakimerge nalang if meron. Thanks!

Given the chance I would go Fusion..since you mentioned "all types of genre" I feel mas versatile a fusion set up dahil balanced..for heavier rock I think mas bagay yung standard (since the 16 is loud and the 14 medyo bitin)..

with the fusion I love the 10..with the standard I love the 16..but the 16 tends to leave the rest behind kung 10-12-16 (assuming you add a 10 and knock the 13 which is what I did)..mas ok sa ears ko yun 10-12-14..so I guess kung from out of the box mas ok fusion..then I'll probably add a 16 to blend out the sound futhrer.. :-D

downside ng standard is the 13 or th e "alanganin tom"..though on the good side of it is pwedeng mag 2 floor tom set up with the standard na yung 12 rack and yun 13-15 nasa floor position..

I'd go for fusion setup with my toms tuned fairly low. :-)

you can play any genre whether its fusion or standard hehehe some just prefer fusion sizes coz smaller toms are easier to tune and position

i'd go with a fusion kit with a hanging 14" tom, mas madali makuha yung angle pang hanging yung tom. besides it's easier to get a 16" floor tom than a 14" hanging/floor tom so pwede mo dagdagan na lng ng 16" tom yung fusion kit mo if you're looking for a deeper, more kaboom-ish sound
if you can't join them, beat them!

i'd go for fusion in the sense that it is easier to expand. :-)

i have a standard set up with a 12,13,16 then i had a 18" floor tom made. pwde naman custom built mo yun extra floor tom mo for a more aggressive boom for metal and hardcore music :)

i prefer smaller toms...hindi lang dahil compact siya, mas gusto ko ang tunog nun
parang mas buhay yung tunog niya compared to standard size toms  :-)
