Sometimes, I really get sad when I think about getting a nice live room sound for drums.
larger rooms = larger area = larger monthly rent 
High ceilings do quite a good job at adding depth to the drum sounds.
But thank the Lord reverb plugins have gotten much better. But I still long for those fundamental tones getting rich because of mikes in a huge room.
That is what Sound Creation is for. The best place to record drums.
