Here are some artists on bosphorus roster that isn't generally jazz:
stanton moore -- funk / new orleans
rusell batiste - funk / new orleans
ignacio beroa -- latin, afro cuban
rikki rocket -- poison -- rock
jacob marshall -- mae -- alternative / rock (give this band a listen, highly recommended ---

todd roper -- cake
john mcintire -- tortoise / the sea and cake -- post rock / experimental
there's also a lot of independent and studio artists listed in there and I believe, studio and independent artists require flexibility in terms of sound since they might be doing different genres each session.
Bosphorus also have a bunch of series which would sound good on different genres. The gold series is bright and crisp. The traditional has a lot of options depending on the sound you want.
I personally have a versa 20" ride and a 14" turk hihat and I'm believe they stand up to their description and use and are flexible enough to be used on various types of music. This of course is my humble opinion and is by no way coming from an authority on drumming and cymbals.
Aside from the music of the drummers / bands listed above, cymbal audio samples on cymbalsonly.com should give an idea on the different sounds.
