My new MOBO won't read my old harddisk.
« on: October 26, 2008, 09:23:03 PM »
Here's my story.

I upgraded my board and processor with AMD Athlon 264 and EMAXX mobo.

And re-installation of windows is required.

After formatting my old IDE harddisk and inserting my windows installer, my computer flashes installation failure.   To check my harddisk, I tried to re-install windows on my brother's pc and windows installation is succesful.

But when I tried to install windows on my new upgraded mobo and processor, windows installation is a failure.

Help!

This is a good motherboard yun nga lang, some people are having a hard time with OS installation especially with WinXP SP2. you might wana check out the mainboard manufacturer's website for resolution. goodluck!

Time is short, let's play music as long as possible.

try partitioning your hard drive.. or full formating then reset your memory, remove other peripherals or other devices..

kung ayaw talaga it means your hard drive has a bad sector or masyado ng luma ang mga components nya for the new mobo.. tell you what.. don't wase you're time on that old and buy a new SATA one for comaptibility.. kasi may chances na hindi rin mag tagal ang hard disk mo sa kalumaan na or just make it a backup or slave drive for your files... total nag uupgrade kanaman diba.. kadalasan kasi ang mga problem po na gandyan.. madami munang "test error" bago mo sya mapagana ng compatible sa mobo mo.. hope  naka help ako..good day..

Kita ba sa BIOS yung HDD mo? If yes, try deleting the partitions and then repartition. You can also check the state of your hard drive by using tools from your manufacturer (Seatools for Seagate, Data Lifeguard for Western Digital). Try downloading the DOS versions and then burn to a bootable disk and then boot to that disk. You can check your hard drive for errors or zero-fill the entire drive using these utilities.
