Are these monitors good enough for home recording? I'd probably be using it for:

 - Preliminary mixing [before mixing it at a proper studio]
 - Tracking
 - Reviewing mixes of our recordings for 2009

This is the first thing that I considered since I don't have a lot of space in my studio.

Here's a pic and below it would be the specs:

Get Big Sound from These Compact Samson Monitors!
Samson MediaOne 3a compact active monitors provide clear, accurate sound with a small footprint. Ideal for desktop audio and video setups, MediaOne 3a monitors are AV shielded for use near computer and video screens. These powered monitors recieve 15 watts of power per side, powering 3" woofers and 25mm tweeters. Precision-tuned, rear-vented cabinets help to provide a surprisingly robust low end, while allowing the speakers to stay cool. Each pair includes a "master control" speaker with front-panel level control and a headphone jack. Go small and sound big with the MediaOne 3a!

Samson MediaOne 3a Active Studio Monitors Features:

    * 3" woofer
    * Precision-tuned, rear-vented enclosure
    * 25mm silk dome high frequency driver
    * 15 watts of Class A/B internal power per side
    * Front panel level control, headphones and stereo input jack
    * RCA inputs
    * Finished in black satin vinyl covering
    * AV shielded for multimedia applications
    * Passive crossovers utilizing a multi-pole design for linear response from bottom to top
    * 2-meter, 20-gauge speaker cable included
I'd rather be sharp than flat.

I see. Currently eyeing a Behringer 2030 as a next and bigger choice. You think it's worth it?

save more, get at least a samson rubicon r5

i've used behringer ms20's and ms40's (same class as mediaone) and i used to think the world of them. i thought they were giving me decent mixes for such a good enough price at least until i bought my krks and really heard a LOT of what im missing.

lesson i've learned: the only monitors good enough for anything are the real ones.
