Everything about METRONOMES
« on: March 05, 2009, 08:05:59 PM »
I have some questions.

What do you think is the best available metronome?
What are the most important features needed in a metronome?
Which is better - a drum machine or a metronome?

hmmm. Diba ang drum machine to accompany guitar players during practice. Ang metronome naman for timing.

sa ngayon, mas gusto ko magkaroon ng high-end metronome like the tama rhythm watch because you can use it without earphones and still hear it. yun yung clincher for me. i'm not too comfortable with something in my ears during play.

but in the future, i might be more inclined to buy a drum machine or something which can play samples perhaps, because it can play loops with it which simulate various time signatures. i saw marco minnemann do this in his video and found it to be a cool idea. gamit niya mga cartoon voices na ginawang samples.

still not sure which one to get. no plans at the moment in choosing either because i have other priorities.

but... afaik, sir peeves had an answer regarding this before and i think he prefers drum machines?

sabi nung iba, the best tool is what can help you do the job and what's with you right now :-)

ito po ung based sa experience ko...

nakagamit ako ng boss db30, db60 and db90. DB90 ung pinakamataas and I feel sobra sobra yung features sa needs ko. Ngayon db30 ginagamit ko. If I have the money I would get the db60 though kasi dun pwede mo paglaruan ung mga accents sa different notes and may certain level of programability din.

sinubukan ko ung drum machine (boss dr 770).. please refer to this post:

http://talk.philmusic.com/board/index.php/topic,35198.msg805981#msg805981

Pero most of the time, the db30 fits.

BTW, hindi ako professional drummer. Drumming is just a hobby/interest. I also don't have that much time for other stuff kasi ang daming ibang kailangang gawin.. Others would have different needs.

So para sa akin, the tools I use right now is a combination of:
1) something that is portable and simple and can play almost in an instant (boss db30) -- basic time sigs with clave.
2) a simple, programmable and easy to use tool for complex things I want to work on (drumtrack software drum machine)

So ayon, hopefully may naishare na ideas... and hopefully may nakaembed na sagot sa mga tanong dun sa sinabi ko sa taas :-)

yep, pwede export to wav yung ginawa mula dun sa drumtrack. Hindi ko pa nasubukan kung pwede to mp3 pero basta may wav pwede na convert to mp3 yun.

tuwang tuwa ako dyan sa drumtrack eh.. libre, legal and very useful  :-)
