Is it possible to connect a mixer out to a mic input?
« on: May 04, 2009, 11:05:00 AM »
Hi everyone,

I have a mixer which is a wharfedalepro EZ-M 16x2 see link for reference
http://wharfedalepro.com/Home/Products/MIXERS/EZMSERIES/EZM16x2/tabid/298/Default.aspx and a powered speaker with the following inputs & controls (2 Mic inputs, mic 1 & 2 volume, bass, treble, echo, master volume) and a pair of RCA Audio input for CDs. My question is it possible to connect the outs of the mixer to the mic input? can i connect the to devices? or is there another equipment to put in between the two devices?. Need your thoughts and recommendations.

Thanks

Puede. Either master out, control room out or monitor out ng Wharfdale mixer mo, puede direct dun sa mic in nung isang powered mixer/speaker mo.

You need a direct box - two direct boxes actually, L & R, so that you will not have an impedance mismatch.

Yup you may need a direct box if you will be using this regularly. For testing purpose pede. pero me masisira sa mga equiptment mo if you use this set up always.

Wag mo pansinin is rey. Madaming pera yan pambili pag nasira ung gamit nya. hehehehe.

Peace! Pareng rey!

clarification:

So the purpose of using DI on this is to create an unbalanced signal out of balanced input from the mixer is that correct?

Or maybe my questions really are...

What is the impedance of the input from the mixer and how does it compare with the impedance of the mic input on the powered speaker?

How does the DI match the impedances of the units?

Are there switches on DIs to do this or is it part of its primary functions?
