Hello All!

I'm in a big dip in gathering equipment and creating processes in our office's video production. I need your big time help. Hope there are peeps here who can.

This is what we want to do:

Some sort of a TV show.
We want to use 2 video cameras to get smooth transitions from one view to another.
We want to record the conversations live. Meaning, we want our 2 video cams with its audio output to be recorded in one dvd or better, in a PC -- that means we want clear capture/record of audio and video as we switch from one camera to another.
We also want to record interviews from video cam (interviewer) while the interviewee is on video conference. So I need the audio and video of the video con device together with the video cam recorded in one PC with smooth transitions still.

HOW DO I DO THIS?
WHAT BASIC AS IN BASIC EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
Are there Audio/Video PCI Cards that can do these features? (No latency and no audio/video distortion between switches [cam 1 to cam 2/video con)
Where can I find these equipment?
Are there wireless lapel mics with wireless receivers that can be attached to moving cameras with output to the camera's mic input? Brands?

Please help. As you can observe, I'm shooting blanks here. :-D

Simple.  There are a lot of software + hardware that are PC or Mac based that you can use for a multi camera set up.  Research the net on video set ups.  For sure you need either a real hardware video mixer or a virtual one.  It will be nice if you can do zooms and put effects.  You will also need camera control units (CCUs) so your color and transitions are seamless.  Research the net.  As for "grabbing" the video (from another source like on line) together with live on cam, all you need is a video mixer and computer software.  Wireless mics?  Audio Technica, AKG, Lectronics, etc. all have wireless systems that you can attach to cameras.  Will you camera signal be wireless also?  A bit expensive.  If your camera signals are wired anyway, why use wireless for audio?

Thanks Sir Mike! I think I need crash course on this. I'd like to just grab all the equipment I need as the company's paying for it anyway but I just don't know where to start. I'm starting to scan through websites I've seen and more than half of what's on it could not register on my desperate understanding.  :-D By the way, the CCU stuff are seemingly expensive. Ahh! I'm going crazy! :-D

I would suggest that your company hire a consultant with experience on TB show system setup and initial training. This consultant should ask about your target output and workflow or he will suggest one if you are uncertain.

You can Google and DIY this but time and money could be wasted.

Thanks for the input sir! Do you happen to have contacts on this? You may have friends in that field I can talk to that have cheap consultation fees, I'd really appreciate it. I'm really desperate na. :)

hwag kang mag-tipid sa consultant, isipin mo na lang they will save you time and money, hehehe.

Wala ako kilala eh. Ask Mike Pedero, he's a veteran in the broadcast industry, I'm sure may kilala sya who can advice you on the technical and workflow aspect of things.

Now, para ma-liwanagan ka pa sa multi-camera setup, check these links
- link 1
- link 2

Matagal na kasi akong video enthusiast kaya alam ko yang mga yan, pero hindi ko kabisado ang terrestrial broadcast standards and requirements kaya hindi kita ma-advise.

Videonics... If you can still find a 2nd hand MX1. ok na yun...

MX1 gamit namin sa LIVE Video Coverage ( beauty contests, other contest, kasalan, bdays, etc... ).

Direct to PC kami...

Direct to PC: I mean, Video Sources ( Cams, DVDPlayers, Specials Effects Generators from PC ) are MIXED with the MX1, then yung Master Video Out goes directly to PC ( as composite video ) where they are CAPTURED. Pero yung mga camera are ON RECORDING pa rin.

Luma na mga gamit ko.... DV500 Video capture card. Firewire/Composite/S-Video... Check mo Pinnacle Systems...

Thanks sir! That's a very helpful input. Now I just need to solve possible latency issues on audio when recording. I guess I just need to go to one tv station and ask around.  :-D :-D

LATE YUNG AUDIO? Before you capture kasi, END SOME UNWANTED TASK & PROCESSES in the TASK MANAGER.... antiviruses, indexing services, networking services, etc... leaving only SYSTEM processes...

Aside from Videonics or Edirol, try mo rin tingnan Datavideo Switcher SE-500. Meron na kasi yan built in quad view sa unit na yan kaya tipid ka sa pagbili ng mga monitor. Instead of buying 4 monitors, you just need to buy 1 monitor since you can view all 4 inputs in one view window  :-D
Then ipasok sa PC via a Capture Card.  If may budget pa then try Balckmagic Decklink Capture Card on your PC. Kinda pricey, but it can capture both audio and video na.  :-)
