For Telecaster users: 3 saddle or 6 saddle bridge?
« on: September 22, 2009, 01:29:04 PM »
I currently own a fender telecaster mim and i'm thinking if i should change my bridge to the vintage 3 saddle bridge. I would just like to know your opinion on this matter. Which do you prefer? The vintage 3 saddle or the modern 6 saddle bridge? What are the disadvantages and advantages?

Thanks in advance and God bless!  :-D

merong 3-saddles with bent screws ako nakita. Pero, parang hindi siya ganun ka friendly i-intonate. Pero, pag na-intonate mo, mas correct siya kesa yung tuwid. Pero, kung ako lang papipiliin mo, I'd go for the compensated saddles. Meron ang Wilkinson by Sung-iL (Korea) na ganun. They're pretty cheap too.

Here you go:

Cheers! :-D

Thank you very much sir. One more question though. What do you mean by compensated saddles? What's the difference between that and the original Fender 3 saddle bridge? And do you happen to know how much the original fender bridges cost? Thanks again!  :-D

Sir, why? Are the 3 saddles really that hard to use and inconvenient?

The compensated saddles allow proper intonation of your three saddle bridge by angling the saddles and establishing the proper string length on all six strings. This is not possible with a stock set of "Straight" Saddles because most often you would need to adjust the saddle to a point halfway between the two perfect settings for each of the strings on that saddle.

But in my case I use the stock fender brass saddles and works fine with me, the compromise in intonation isn't a biggie on my case.  :-)

Hope this helps
