Try looking for Japanese acoustic guitars sa classifieds dito.  :-)

If you want to go brand new, the best that I've tried is the Fernando DG-100CE (kung tama yung alala ko sa model number). Dreadnought body w/ cutaway + electronics (built-in tuner pa. hehe). Sounded really good to my ears, considering its price.

I have an Ibanez acoustic electric - they are good for their price range, kaso in my experience and sa mga narinig ko - panget ang electronics...  Bumigay yung UST pickup ko in 2 years time.  :( Well pwede rin siguro minalas na panget yung electronics ng napadpad saken, kaya give it a try pa rin.  Other than the electronics, wala na kong complaint.  Tama yung advice sayo: try and try different brand of guitars.

OT: Na-GAS tuloy ako dito sa thread na to... I am thinking of getting a decent small bodied acoustic, preferrably yung walang pickup for recording, yung makalansing.  Or pwede rin nylon with pickups...   8-)

i've read a lot about the electronics being the weakest part of an ibanez acoustic-electric, so malamang hindi isolated case yang experience mo. that's also why i'm kinda loath to include ibanez in the choices.

(yung artcore series ba eh pwedeng i-consider na acoustic-electric? because i kinda like those :-) )

anyway, going to jb glorietta to try out some takamines.

yes.. weak point talaga ng ibanez ang electronics pagdating sa acoustics.. then yung build quality, hit and miss.. more often miss..  :-D
i still have an ibanez nonetheless.. yung mga lumalabas ngayon na ibanez acoustic, all out crap talaga.. all exotic wood series i've seen and tried just sound lifeless and dull.. then when you look sa loob pati sa bracings, hindi maganda ang cut kg kahoy.. as if maraming rough spots and inconsistent cuts.. haay.. yung sakin was a 2007 model, mejo naswerte ako kasi maayos ang build quality.. electronics lang talaga ang gripe ko..
it sounded really nice when plugged kaso reliability issues ang marami.. sometimes bigla nalang mamamatay kahit brand new batteries mo.. that's why nilagyan ko nalang ng SD Woody SC, passive yun so plug and play.. acoustic  preamp nalang for better tone shaping..

You should try also the Fender acoustics, I've witnessed the mellow tone of it when someone tried it yesterday at Yamaha in MOA. But, Im not sure about the exact model.  :-P

I hope you could try out the Marrtinez brand of acoustic guitars in Lyric.

I've known a lot of guitarists who were impressed with the quality and sound of these guitars. :)

hi sir.
i've seen the martinez brand. they have these acoustic-electrics with the thin bodies right? i'm not sure how thin bodies would affect the sound (i guess they would sound brighter?) but they do look kinda cool.

Yes sir, they also have these models. You should also check the big, solid top models, made of bubinga (African rosewood) and spruce.  :-)

MIJ lawsuit (Tokai cat's eye,Morris,Takamine, etc.) acoustics for me, but i don't think they are the cheapest. :-)

I scored a Yamaki with a hardcase off the classifieds here for 4k. The hardcase was crap and smelled like ass, but the guitar itself sounded heavenly.

Ok din yung Montana sa JB,  I think under 7k yun

woody, big sounding, nice fundamental sound... martins usually posses those qualities... macho kung baga :-)

but i also like the modern boutique sound, maybe a grand auditorium thats responsive to light touch, balanced, hints of overtones, good headroom and volume... haha, ang hirap maghanap ng ganito :-)
