Is it worth to sell my AMP for a keyboard amp?
« on: November 04, 2009, 12:13:27 PM »
Im been using the POD X3 for a while now. and it really is a GAS-killer for me because of tonal possibilities. Ive been using my Laney LV100 as a poweramp, so okay naman.
I was thinking of selling my LV100 for a keyboard amp. Kasi parang may coloration pa ng konti yun lv100. (yes it does.. ive tried it)
di po ako pwede mag PA. (tsaka wala naman lageng may PA so need ko din ng sariling amp)

any keyboard amps will do ba? like GTX 30w keyboards amp.. cheap at flat response sila.. magkakabenefit pa ako pag nabenta ko yun..
any comments?

yeah.. i would have bought an acoustic amp.. for me ha.. imho.. mas versatile ang keyboard amp.. :p ewan ko ba eh pareho lang..
basta mas flat saken keyboard amps..

i was strolling sa JB and i found a GTX 30w keyboard amp na 2.8k lang.. mukhang mura at magkakaprofit pa ako sa lv100 pag nabenta ko pa..
are they any good? i want to test it.. pero nakakahiya sa JB.. :p napayag ba sila na dalhen ko pod ko dun for testing? eh hindi ko pa mabibili unless mabenta ko yung lv100.  :?

diba bro may FX Loop ang LV100?.. have you tried using that?.. para sa ganun, yung preamp lang ng POD mo ang maglalaro.. unlike when you plug it sa INPUT, dalawang preamp na yung maglalaro (both sa POD at sa amp mismo) so there would be really coloration sa tone.. the Laney LV100 is equipped with a Celestion Rocket50, yan din gamit sa mga basic na Marshall cabs..

^^
or yun na ba yung ginawa mo when you said that you used the LV100 as a poweramp?
kasi i think ok na amplifier yan.. if you would go down sa GTX, parang it would not do any justice..although keyboard amp yun kaya magkaiba rin.. still, i think the Laney would be better.. opinion ko lang naman.. i'm basing it on the specs of the Laney since i haven't tried one yet..

Atomic Reactor  :-D

Seriously, if you're ok with it, hold on to that Laney rather than a keyboard amp. Minor coloration is nothing as long as you can work around it.

I've been through a few digital modelers now. So far, I've been most happy with tube guitar amps with series effects loops (yeah, Atomic Reactor inlcuded). I also have a 30w solid state acoustic guitar amp. Hmmm... didn't care much for the resulting sound with my modelers.

I have a JSX head amp and TripleX 4x12 cab. I'm running my PODxt Pro through the effects loop. No coloration.

A keyboard amp or a powered speaker is ok naman for PODs.

Instead of a keyboard amp, why not powered speakers? That's a common rig for the modeler crowd. I'm also looking into them cuz I use a Variax, Tech21 analog modeler pedals, and play a lot of acoustic also. Powered speakers would be perfect for me. Just tonight at the gig I realized how important it is to get your own modeler rig instead of relying on the PA system. Not all PAs and sound engineers are created equal.
