I use iTunes. All the things you mentioned magagawa dito.

Connecting your laptop to a mixer:
The easiest way is through the headphone out. Use a "Y" cable (mini to 2 1/4") and connect it to the 1st and 2nd track sa mixer.

The other way is connecting a firewire or usb interface then run it's left and right outs to the 1st and 2nd track sa mixer.

I use sequenced parts sa band ko. Sa iTunes less hassle kasi play/stop ka na lang vs. running a DAW live. Mixed nga lang dapat ng maayos ang parts.

Actually I use .wav files. Although mp3 is good naman.

Regarding playlist, what you need to do is:
1. Get an audio editing software (like soundforge).
2. Edit the spaces before your song's first beat (or first bar). Same with the spaces at the end.
3. In this way, parang non stop na yung playlist mo dahil wala ng spaces before and after each songs. Make sure lang na tama ang downbeats mo para smooth ang transition (or it depends sa yo).
