Hi Allen,

M-Audio Hardware are only compatible with Pro Tools M-Powered. Pro Tools LE will only work with LE hardware, namely the Mbox and Mbox2 Family, the 002 and 003 Family, and Eleven Rack.

This is correct as far as audio functions are concerned. When it comes to post production features, that's where major differences comes in.

Yes, you can open PT 7 session in PTMPE, but you must also realize that PTMPE is a very limited version of Pro Tools.
