One of our stores lost thousands of pesos from theft last night. The manager of the branch said that around ten to fifteen men, aged 20-30 years old, went inside their branch at the same time. The clerks had to entertain at least half of the group, so the rest of this group was freely able to roam around the store. When the group left the store, a guitar pack, a guitar pedal and some cymbals were missing.
I presume that cases like this will be prevalent this holiday season, so I highly advise all stores to take extra precaution. Here are some tips to reduce the risk of being robbed:
- Install a security camera in your store. Even fake ones can discourage criminals from getting your items.
- You can also install security convex mirrors in your store, as long as you have someone who always checks these mirrors.
- When groups like this come in your store, make sure that two clerks remain on standby. Don't let the whole staff have its hands full.
- Make sure that big packages and bags must be inspected before customers leave the store.
- If you have a big store, make sure you have a baggage counter.
Be safe everyone!
